The Ste. Genevieve County jail has violated immigration detainees' First Amendment rights by keeping priests from delivering Communion, celebrating Mass and taking confessions, the Archdiocese of St. Louis says in a lawsuit filed Monday.

Priests have been turned away, asked to wait for close to an hour and severely time-limited in their interactions with the dozens of Catholic detainees held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the county jail since last year, the suit alleges.
