Fall Flavors Are Here!🍂🥔

Fall is officially in the FoodRight kitchen! Join Chef Stephanie Castillo as we turn the last of our garden harvest—potatoes and kale—into a warm, nourishing dish the whole family will love. Come ready to cook, learn new skills, try a new recipe, and share some delicious bites with friends and neighbors. We bet you’ll be saying “Yummm!” with every bite! 😋💚

OK, OK, one more post for the day, if you insist! 😉

Some of our favorite moments (and truly the heart of Forks & Futures) were the interactions between our six fabulous chefs and their partner FoodRight students.

From learning new techniques to putting the finishing touches on each plate, these students got to be part of something special, showing what young people can do when given the opportunity to learn, try, and create in the kitchen. They were incredible representatives of Milwaukee MPS, Golda Meir and MacDowell Montessori.

A huge thank-you to our chefs for sharing their time, talent, and energy with our students and guests. Their twists on FoodRight recipes were out of this world!

Our inaugural brunch brought together six Milwaukee chefs, six FoodRight students from Golda Meir and MacDowell Montessori, and a community of folks who believe in the power of food, nutrition education, and the next generation.

There’s nothing like watching a 5th grader flip their first zucchini fritter as they realize, “I can do this!” 💚

This fall, join us in the cooking classroom at our partner Milwaukee Public Schools: Golda Meir, Brown Street Academy, and Fernwood Montessori!

Volunteers help make these moments possible, giving students the encouragement and hands-on support they need to build cooking skills, try new foods, and grow their confidence.

Exciting news! FoodRight has been awarded the 2026 Food Justice for Kids Prize!🎉

Nutrition & Dietetics students and faculty from the UWM Zilber College of Public Health recently joined FoodRight’s inaugural Forks & Futures fundraiser, supporting hands-on culinary nutrition education in Milwaukee. 🍴

The event also showcased an ongoing partnership that gives our students meaningful opportunities to learn beyond the classroom. Two MPH-Nutrition & Dietetics students are completing their PH 790 field placements with FoodRight this fall, while students in NUTR 245 regularly work with the organization through an integrated service-learning experience.

Happy Birthday, Amy!🥳

When looking for photos of Amy, I found… two. Which feels pretty fitting for our behind-the-scenes Director of Finance & Operations!

(Reminder to self to take more pictures of Amy! We’ll work on that for next year.)

While most of the team is busy cooking with kids, developing recipes, and dreaming up ways to change the way Milwaukee eats, Amy is keeping the books balanced, the budgets in check, and the wheels on the bus. Without her, the rest of our team couldn't do all the things that make FoodRight, FoodRight!

Thank you, Amy, for keeping FoodRight running behind the scenes so the rest of us can do all the fun stuff. We hope you have the happiest birthday! 💚

Help us wish Stephanie, our fabulous program assistant, a very happy birthday!🥳

From leading lessons in our cooking classrooms and teaching kitchen, to assisting as a translator in our Good School Food program, Stephanie has quickly become an integral and valuable member of our team!

She's developed new FoodRight recipes, forged bonds with students, parents, and residents, created systems for keeping our teaching kitchen clean and organized, and helped our programs grow and thrive!✨

Happy birthday, Stephanie! We're so grateful to have you on our team.💚
