On September 16, our Rev-Up MKE finalists will take the stage to pitch their businesses for a chance at a rent-free storefront at Concordia 27, $5,000, and business support to keep growing.

But you don’t have to be a finalist to find an opportunity at Rev-Up MKE.

Come meet and network with local entrepreneurs at the Small Business Expo, discover businesses rooted right here in our neighborhood through the Taste of the Near West Side, and connect with people and resources that could be part of your next move.

Near West Side Week is sounding pretty good already.

On Monday, September 14, the historic Uplifting Mansion is opening its Legacy Terrace for Symphony on the Terrace, a special outdoor performance featuring musicians from the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket, find a spot under the open sky, and enjoy an evening where live music, art, food (by Cocina Filipina already a Near West Side classic) history, and community come together in one of the Near West Side’s beautiful historic spaces. Whether classical music is already your thing or this is your first introduction, you’re invited.

Near West Side Week is starting with a BLOCK PARTY!

We’re taking over 26th & State to kick off a week of celebrating everything that makes the Near West Side the best neighborhood of neighborhoods: music, art, creativity, food, and community.

The New State Block Party brings an afternoon of live performances headlined by Emmit James, with Kavon Jones bringing poetry and emceeing, Promise Bruce representing The New State, and performances from local youth theater artists.

There’s plenty happening beyond the stage, too. Join a community art project with Artists Working in Education (AWE), explore local vendors, grab something to eat, and—because no block party is complete without it—get a Pete’s Pop.

We’re declaring September Near West Side Month!

With so much happening across the neighborhood, one week simply wasn’t enough. Throughout the next few days, we’ll be sharing all the ways you can join us as we close out summer and celebrate the people, places, and community that make the Near West Side special.

First up: Near West Side Week has officially outgrown the week.

Before the festivities begin September 13–19, we’re kicking things off with a Coffee Social. Stop by before work, grab a cup of coffee, meet neighbors and community partners, and get excited about everything ahead for Near West Side Week—and the rest of the month.

The 2026 Housing Resource Fair is bringing Take Root Milwaukee and housing partners to Concordia 27 for a morning dedicated to renters, homebuyers, and homeowners!

Beyond connecting with resources, you can join housing workshops, ask questions directly to experts, and learn more about the programs available to you.

And since you’ll already be at Concordia 27, make a morning of it: Greater Good(s) will be open for fresh produce, and Fruition MKE will be serving up Tiffany's famous biscuts!

Introducing [Start Here] — the inaugural exhibition of the Creative Corridor, a brand-new neighborhood arts initiative building visible platforms for local artists.

We're starting where it matters most: with the artists who call the Near West Side home. Featuring work by Brad Anthony Bernard, Rebekah Nichols, Jesse Bell, Michael Westcott, Tiffany Miller, Samantha Whitefeather, and Melissa Muller.
