Hey family ❤️ I want to clear something up:
A lot of people are saying “sickle cell funding stopped.”
From what’s been officially reported, the main federal sickle cell programs are still funded in 2026 — including support connected to treatment programs, newborn screening follow-up, and data collection.
What is happening is that other broader public health funding has been messy (pauses/reviews/cuts in some areas), and that can make it feel like everything got shut down.
🗣️ What matters for patients in 2026:
• More push for better access to care
• More states working on Medicaid pathways for advanced sickle cell treatments
If you’re a warrior or caregiver:
✅ Ask your hematologist what options you qualify for
✅ If you’re on Medicaid, ask your plan about sickle cell treatment coverage + referrals
We deserve truth, stability, and care — not panic posts. ❤️
