Together for Homes was glad to participate in the recent Breaking Barriers Developers Roundtable. This roundtable focused on how to pay for, fund, and build supportive housing for people who have been in prison or jail and are reentering society, and allowed Wisconsin housing organizations to discuss, organize, and strategize around housing issues affecting our communities. Working together and building a coalition of housing advocates is at the heart of Together for Homes’ mission, and we were grateful to participate, lead, and learn alongside fellow housing advocates fighting for the same change we are.

Why is housing so unaffordable today? Because there are not enough homes. Not having enough homes to rent or buy creates cutthroat competition and drives up prices, which in turn gives landlords disproportionate power over the market and leads to predatory practices. Let’s build more homes and level the playing field for Milwaukee residents.
