🚨UPDATE- FOSTER FOUND! 🚨

🐾 3 years old | 80ish lbs of pure sweetness

Twix REALLY needs us right now.

This handsome, smiley boy has been diagnosed with significant arthritis in both of his knees. He’s currently on pain medication and will need an orthopedic consult — but what he needs FIRST is a soft place to land.

Twix is:
💙 Incredibly people-friendly, dogs ✅ , older kids ✅
💙 A happy, affectionate 80 lb “ball of happiness”
💙 Overweight (which we can help fix!)
💙 In need of structure, weight loss, and joint support

He does have mobility challenges, so his foster home would need to:
✔️ Keep activity low-impact
✔️ Help with weight management
✔️ Provide short, slow potty breaks (no marathon walks)
✔️ Have minimal stairs if possible
✔️ Be willing to get him to an ortho appointment

UU will cover medical care.
We will support you every step of the way.

This is not a hospice dog.
This is a young dog with joint disease who deserves a chance — and a team behind him.

If you can foster Twix — even short term — please message us ASAP or apply here:

Let’s give this sweet boy the soft landing he deserves.

UPDATE: Austin is outta here!! Foster has been found!

If you have a weekend, a week or a month - we’d love to hear from you! You don’t need to work from home or devote every waking hour to a foster! Just offer them a calm, predictable and loving home environment 💕💕

Austin is looking for a dog-savvy home to decompress in. He’s overwhelmed at the shelter, which is exhibiting itself in some new-to-us over-the-top behaviors. While most or the time he is mellow, laid back and looking for guidance and support, he struggles to stay composed when the world gets to be too much.

Austin would do best in a home that is:
🏡 Quiet and low-traffic - older, polite children who can be calm around Austin may be ok
🐶 Austin appears to be ok with other dogs - but we’d need a meet-n-greet and a commitment from the foster to do slow intros over the course of 7-10 days (parallel walks are great, off leash time wrestling in the backyard, not so much!)
🐱MADACC doesn’t cat-test, but Austin does love to chase stuff!! If you have a dog-savvy cat, we have volunteers that can help walk you through intros (AFTER giving Austin time to decompress)

Right now, Austin is just waiting for someone to give him a chance. If you can foster — even temporarily — you could be the reason he starts to trust again.

📩 Interested in fostering Austin? Please email [email protected] or comment “FOSTER” and we’ll reach out!
Let’s get this boy out of MADACC and into the soft, safe home he deserves. 💙🐶n dlre an

UPDATE: FOSTER SECURED! Thanks to everyone who shared ❤️ Red won’t be the last dog in need of foster so please do apply to foster if you are serious about helping Milwaukee’s stray dogs! 🙏

🆘 Operation: GET RED OUT! 🆘

Short-term or long-term foster needed!

Shelter life is way too much for poor Red 😔. He doesn’t ever want to leave his kennel and even when our lovely volunteers coaxed him into the adoption room for some glamour shots (he’s so handsome 🥰), he found it impossible to open up.

Because we don’t know much about him, we can’t responsibly market him for adoption. So we’d love to find a patient foster who can offer him quiet, calm, consistent routine to help him find his groove.

We know he lived with other dogs - but he’s not one that should be integrated with resident pets until he has time to decompress.

*update from an insider: “I know he is housebroken and has been around children of all ages. He has never been alone, so home with another young adult dog of similar size and play level would be great.”*

(We also know, based on his demeanor, that Red will absolutely flee if given a chance - so a home with a SECURE fenced in yard that connects directly to your home will be ideal.)

If you’d like to learn more about Red and see if you are a foster fit - please email Gabi at [email protected]. If you’re a match, she will help expedite your foster application (if not already approved) so we can Red out! 🙏🏻

In just the last four days, MADACC has taken in 53 dogs, bringing the total number of dogs in our care to 146. Every single kennel is full. As the animal control facility for Milwaukee County, we cannot turn away stray animals—no matter how full we are. This means splitting kennels in half to accommodate more dogs.

How can you help?
• Share our posts to spread the word.
• Let others know that MADACC is the first place to check if they lose their pet.
• Consider fostering, volunteering, or adopting to help us create space and save lives.

Most importantly, MADACC’s mission is to reunite animals with their loving families. Together, we can make that happen.
