Errors define those who make them. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try. No matter how much we succeed. We're remembered for our errors.. ESPECIALLY if we make them in our biggest moments.
But our errors don't necessarily define us. How we respond to them does. Do we make excuses for them? Do we blame others for them? Or do we accept responsibility for them? Most importantly do we learn from them, so we dont make the same ones again?
Making errors is what makes us human, but owning up to, & making up for them makes us better. Offer no excuses & squarely put the blame on you.
Errors DO hurt. They hurt our pride & they hurt those who depend on us. We begin to make up for them when we apologize for them & accept the consequences of them. It's going to hurt, it's going to sting. The sting is the shame of failure.
Our accountability for our failures should be a source of pride. The best we can do is try not to make mistakes. When we make mistakes. Be sincere, admit what you did, take responsibility of it. Ask for forgiveness if need be, learn & grow from them.
Please spread this message when you see it in yourself & others around you. BE HUMBLE. To error is to be human. Learning from your errors is great knowledge.
I've been trying to teach this as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 11. Even if you are real smart. BE HUMBLE enough to accept that you can learn from someone or situation. Now more than ever with this generation. I see a lot more of these young adults be more full of themselves. Not humble enough, a bunch of know-it-alls, & mentally weaker more so than ever before. We're getting farther away from "The Greatest Generation" which is disheartening. If someone gives you this lil rant. I hope you realize that someone sees the errors of your ways & that you learn from this. All of us error..
