Earlier this month we had our first ever Film Fête fundraiser held inside our historic Oriental Theatre MKE. It was a Film Noir themed evening filled with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, femme fatales, and fundraising that supports our historic cinemas, festivals, and year-round programming. David Fear of Rolling Stone Magazine joined us for a live discussion about some of his favorite noir films and spoiler, we will be showing quite a few of the films on his list in our Noirvember Series coming next month.

If you missed out on the magic of film noir inside our historic theatre don't feel too left out, join us for Noirvember, starting with The Maltese Falcon on 11/1: mkefilm.org/noirvember

Our Executive Director Susan Kerns is having an amazing time at SITGES - Festival de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya!

This festival is big on King Kong and Susan is loving the audience enthusiasm. Somehow in the midst of all of the fun she also found herself in a few conversations about the Midwest cult classic, Hundreds of Beavers. From Spain to Milwaukee, the love for amazing indie film thrives and we love to be a part of it.

World Premieres are usually pretty fun; this one was unforgettable. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for our screening of Heavy Is The Crown at the 2026 Dialogues Documentary Festival Presented by Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. We had a packed house for this incredible documentary about the city we love so much. Hosting local filmmakers inside the historic Oriental Theatre MKE for premieres like this is exactly why we love the cinema community in this city so much.

You all showed up for local film in a way we knew you would but still surprises us every time 🎥💕
