We are mourning the loss of Norm, our favorite egg and poultry vendor for more than a decade at South Shore Farmers Market. Norman Stephan passed away on Monday, September 29th. He is survived by his daughter, Kristen, who you’ll see at the market still. We take a moment to honor his tireless dedication to support his family and community in the way he knew best— poultry farming. The work of feeding a community is often unseen, but the efforts of individuals like Norm are at the root of our nourishment. Our condolences to all who loved him. You will be missed, Norm, undoubtedly.

While Bay View Community Center continues to work on restoring SNAP at the Token Booth, the Committee at South Shore Farmers Market has reinstated and secured funding for PAY IT FORWARD for the rest of the 2025 market season! Please stop by, we miss you! The weather is holding out and blessing us with that autumnal glow.

This week we will have yoga in the park atbour market! Join theheartrevival this Saturday for a donation-based class at 9am just beyond our southernmost vendors. Bring a yoga mat and water bottle if you have one. Although you can definitely practice without one! All proceeds support ABCs and Rice, an organization that increase access to food and education to families in Cambodia.

Shout out to the milwaukeejazzinstitute for keeping the craft alive! Did you know this nonprofit teaching young people and adult how to play jazz instruments and recently competed in NYC!? We are so grateful we got to groove with you today at the market!

An update on SNAP/EBT at South Shore Farmers Market:
While we have been working hard to restore our processing ability, EBT/SNAP and Market Match are still temporarily suspended at our market. Shoppers CAN still shop with Senior and WIC vouchers directly with our vendors as normal.

We apologize for this temporary but disappointing inconvenience. We will announce when the Token Booth is operating at full capacity. For now Bay View Community Center will continue to run the booth to process credit and debit transactions only.
