HELP US CARE FOR OUR SPECIAL NEEDS AND CONSIDERATIONS ANIMALS WITH A DONATION BOX!

Our Season-of-Giving campaign is almost here (starting November 1), but we need to put out this request for help that is a part of it earlier because we really need help. Donations are at an all-time low, and we run on donations - for medical care of our animals, food, supplies - every single thing! We still have not covered the cost of our September/October food and are already purchasing our Oct/Nov food. Getting this far behind can get insurmountable really quick. We need more help than we have.

We know not everyone can donate themselves, but everyone can help give others an opportunity to do good. Last year for the first part of the Season of Giving, we asked for public-facing businesses {or employees that work at them} (that have customers or other interaction with the public at their store front) if they would host one of our fancier donation boxes (on the left) at their counter or reception desk. We also asked for individuals who would take an "internal" donation box (the more homemade version on the right) to help us fundraise in non-public-facing settings like in one's workplace lunchroom, or at their book club meetings, church groups, holiday gatherings, etc. We had only 2 businesses offer to take a donation box, and neither business actually put them out so we raised $0 from those efforts. We had just one person take an internal box to her work break room and she raised $180 which is fabulous! Our little dog Hendrix was having health challenges so we had to cease our pleas for assistance in this fundraising effort (because besides being low in donation support, we are also low in volunteer support and the limited volunteer help we have was tending to animal needs and was spread so thin we couldn't also go deliver/place donation boxes and collect funds from them, too).

So in realizing that shortcoming in being able to implement this donation box program, we are going to change it a bit this year to get more help to make it a success.

Our goal is to get 20 of our public facing donation boxes into the community, and have 20 individuals do some internal fundraising with the other box. This is not a big or unachievable goal with 9000 social media followers (and 2 million residents of SE WI), but we need people who will step up and help reach this goal.

We are also going to ask that anyone that can arrange for a business donation box to be placed also collect the funds from that box (once a month is usually more than sufficient - this is a low-effort volunteering opportunity with little commitment). The internal boxes by nature are monitored by the individual that agrees to take one as they are placed somewhere our volunteers wouldn't have access to anyway (like at their work break room or at their Wednesday night Game Night).

People almost universally love animals and want to help, but don't always know how. Helping us place one of these boxes not only helps our animals tremendously, but also helps others feel good about doing something meaningful (and we all need that type of fulfillment and giving to others tops that list).

In 2026, change is a nuisance to most people and they want to get rid of it! What is a burden to them is a blessing to our animals. They can unload their pockets, or their change jars from home - our animals will be helped greatly by it.

Talk to businesses you know that might want to help. People want to do good. If you don't ask, the answer is always no. And if you can't think of a business, share this post because someone you know might know of, or have a business, that would host a box. Or perhaps you want to take an internal box and raise money for the animals in exchange for your coworkers being able to wear jeans on Fridays!

Everyone in this community is connected to each other by a few degrees of separation. Network for our animals. We can help so many more if more of you help us.

Because it takes so long to meet any of our needs (no matter what it is) all of our other needs get put aside. Because we have urgent fundraising needs, all of our foster needs have not gotten the visibility they require over the past week.

One of the best kitties in the entire world is still waiting for her hero.

Because its been a beat, and because we hope this reaches people that it hasn't before, this is Sweetie Pie. She was born without eyes. We rescued her from a hoarder house. Can you imagine being an animal trapped in a hoarder hous, but also having to navigate it blind?

She is a survivor and awe inspiring, but that has not been her reception by our community. The foster we had lined up for her backed out on her hours before we needed to rescue her (what a loss for them, and God's protection for Sweetie Pie - she is so incredible - she deserves the most phenomenal human(s) - not a flake). Our volunteer Jeanne stepped in to save the day so we could still rescue her and offered a room in her home for her to stay (her whole home is not a match for her) - and while we integrate our animals into the full foster home, this was only supposed to be a temporary landing - for certain we thought we would have dozens of people vying for her and be able to select the very best one for her among them (she deserves nothing less). She's been with Jeanne a year and we haven't had one app that has been a match for her.

We are looking for a regular foster home for her at this time. We integrate our foster animals into the full foster home as aforementioned so we can assess their long-term wants, likes, dislikes, and needs - something we cant do from the confines of a room. We predict the needs of our special animals fairly accurately and usually make well-matching foster placements...which is why so many of our foster parents adopt (that, and its hard not to fall in love with our extraordinary animals), so to the right person, being set up as her foster should be no issue.

Jeanne sent this video over and said, "this is what Sweetie Pie likes to do - be near you, and be pet." For a year, countless people that have had what she needs have overlooked her. Why? Because she's blind? Because she's black? Both? Are they missing out. Sweetie Pie is best friend material. Help us find the person she needs that appreciates her greatness. Help us grow our tribe of people who cherish animals with special needs and considerations in SE WI.

Besides cuddling and being adored, Sweetie Pie loves to play (especially with you, but she can play on her own, too). Blind animals can do all the things sited animals can if given the environment to succeed.

For Sweetie Pie, that is a quiet, peaceful, tranquil and calm adult-only home with an individual or couple established in their life and residence to give her the stability and predictability she needs to thrive. Must love kitty cuddles, too. We are looking for someone that lives in a quiet residential area. There are sounds that enrich Sweetie's life (birds singing and bugs buzzing from her window) that are a must-have for her, and noises that are noxious that overstimulate and irritate her - so a home in a downtown or other dense urban area, on a busy-street, or multi-family or apartment-living would not be right for her.

There should be no dogs in her home. We think she would prefer to ne someone's one and only animal so she can have all the attention for herself that she craves, but we may consider a home with a super-gentle and laid back grandpa cat (mid-teens or older) whose biggest concern is finding the best napping spot for the day so we can ensure Sweetie Pie will remain safe and not stressed.

Thank you to everyone who took time from your Saturday to help us care for Tiny Biscuits...and feed all of our kitties! In addition, you helped our human hearts - anxiety has been very high with us falling so behind on our expenses. Results from yesterday's fundraiser - Tiny Biscuits' ER bill - PAID! We also gained 2 new recurring monthly donors which is SO exciting! Our monthly donors donations are applied to our monthly recurring costs - and those costs are our very special girl, Tiny Biscuits' monthly medication costs, so we call our monthly recurring donors our "Team Tiny Biscuits VIPs!" Please welcome to the crew, Jessica B. and Racheal B.! With the addition of their monthly contributions, we are now at $255 of recurring monthly donations. Tiny Biscuits' monthly medication costs are $507.44, so we are still running a deficit of $252.44 on those medicines (some pharmaceutical, some nutraceutical/holistic) so we are still looking to add more recurring donors to Biscuits' squad so her meds are completely covered each month. We started Giving Sunday a few years ago as a way to reconnect people to what Sundays used to be - a day focused on giving to others. The day epitomized that if you were blessed, then you should be a blessing to others. It was a simpler time. A better time. A more fulfilled time that society has slipped away from - but we can get back there, and are giving people an opportunity to do so.

Today, we are asking again with help to feed our special needs and considerations animals. We don't have a wishlist anymore. Our food is not shelf-stable - its either commercially prepared frozen raw or homemade raw and must be stored in a freezer - it can't be shipped through a wishlist. When we did have a wishlist, it would, on average, only take one request for food and we would receive cases of food from that wishlist to last us a month or more. Since changing to fresh, whole-food diets for our animals - something we thought our supporters would be celebrating and even asking how they can do the same for their own animals, our donations for food (which come in the form of monetary donations because we have to buy the food ourselves from freezer to freezer), have ceased. We know change can be hard to wrap one's mind around, but its still the same...but better. Your donations are feeding our animals...but BETTER. Instead of ultraprocessed foods of which all the nutrients have been, well, processed out, so they have to be added back in synthetically, you are giving to feed our animals real meat (that their bodies were designed to eat). They eat less (because they can actually use ALL of the food they are eating), and its cheaper! Everyone wins. Donating for this type of food is a feel-good donation to the core (literally!).

So we are asking people to donate "a case" of one of the foods we used to feed - $26 for a case of 12 cans of Tiki Cat; $23 for a case of 24 Fancy Feast; or $21 for a case of 12 BFF pates - but they aren't on a Wishlist. Per the above, we feed raw food to our animals. Your monetary donation will allow us to purchase more of that raw food for the same price. If you don't have that amount to give, we understand! $5 (when combined with 3 other 5-dollar donors) also buys a case of food. Everything adds up - it ALL helps. It allows us to care for these special animals.

Our credit card is due today. We'll pay what we have today because we won't be able to use our card if we don't, but we'll need to make another payment within the next few days - we can't continue to carry balances for a month or more - we have other animals needing vet visits, and medications and food for Oct/Nov need to be purchased now. We can't just say, oh well, we didn't meet our goal and move on - we run entirely on donations to feed and care for the special needs and considerations animals we serve - we have to keep asking until we receive the help we need. Please help.

Yesterday, for $5 Friday, we said if just 193 people stopped and donated $5, our 2 bills would be paid for in their entirety. 532 people saw our plea, but only 3 stopped to help. They donated way more than $5 each ($92 in total), recognizing we struggle to get support. So thank you, Kali Z., Carie T., and Theresa B. for not looking away when you saw a need and a cry for help.

Today with the balance reduced by the 3 donations that came in yesterday, it would only take 175 people giving $5 each to pay off Tiny Biscuits needs and our food expenses for the last month. $5 doesn't buy you much today (5 dollars is the new $1 in today's inflated times), but here, it buys real, whole foods we feed our animals and make ourselves (and freeze in glass jars - better for the environment!) like this meal of raw pork for one of our cats, and important veterinary care our animals with special needs, some very significant like our Tiny Biscuits, need to live their best lives.

I don't know if we've ever struggled to pay off bills as much as we have at the current moment (and we have had some doozies that were WAY bigger than these). People would readily donate canned food to us in the past, but ever since we changed to feeding our animals whole, real, raw food (that nature intended them to eat), its been a struggle to get support. Our animals still have to eat, and we would think donors would rather donate funds for food that nourishes our animals and heals, rather than denatured chemical soup that causes disease - but that hasn't been the reality. Even when feeding real food costs us less than feeding processed food. See that meat in the photo? That's real turkey thigh we use to make homemade raw food. It smells like the turkey you make on Thanksgiving, not "mystery meat".

What could you swap to give and help us today? Your daily 7 Brew for one day (we hear those are about $8 on average)? That impulse container of gum at the grocery store check out? The bag of chips and soda from the gas station for a snack? Or would you consider skipping Door Dash tonight and swinging by a restaurant on your way home to pick up your food yourself (saving you fees that are often more than the cost of your food itself)? A small sacrifice (which probably helps your own health) definitely helps that of our animals. Please give in whatever amount you can today - none is too small - just give. We can't do this important work without donors.

We're racing another baseball game and therefore people's attention when we really need it.

We've really struggled for donations lately (and every single thing we do for our animals is from donations). It's easy to think, "someone else will give"...and everyone does think that way so so few people actually help.

Monday when we asked for your help with Tiny Biscuits' expenses, just 4 people didn't scroll past - Nicole S., Jacob R., Rebecca A., and Connie H. Together they gave $125 and brought Tiny Biscuits ER bill down to the balance above which is within reach...but we still have all of our September/October food costs that we have to cover by Saturday, too.

And our Oct/Nov food costs are starting, and Tiny Biscuits' Oct.-Nov. meds are being ordered this week and next.

We need to keep pace to serve these animals, and we need your help to do so. The easiest, most convenient way to help our animals is with a donation. We're here again asking for help amidst another baseball game that is probably decreasing this needs visibility. Thank you to Brianna W., and Theresa W. who took time from their fun-filled weekends to do a little giving, too. The amount of money we need to raise by Saturday is not much in the scope of things with the amount of eyes that see our needs (we see other organizations raise much more in a day than we raise in a month yet as a special needs rescue, our expenses are exponentially more) we just need more of our followers to go from spectator, to supporter. More expenses are incurred daily and more are coming. It has been a terribly slow time for donations for us, and surprisingly, in support for this little one who is known throughout our community and everyone loves. It's Giving Sunday, and we know everyone is focused on football and baseball today, but Tiny Biscuits was wondering if you would do some good between games (and chose this up-close-and-personal photo of herself so you wouldn't miss her)!

We know your attention is elsewhere right now and its an exciting time for WI sports, but our rescue doesn't stop for sports or championships - and we run entirely on donations to help the special needs and considerations animals in this rescue - the most special of all being Tiny Biscuits!

It wouldn't take many of you giving just a little to help us pay off this bill that we've been carrying for so long (and we have less than a week to come up with the funds). 90 - $5 donors; 45 - $10 donors; 22 - $20 donors; or just 9 - $50 donors...and we have 9,000 followers! This should be a piece of cake to finish Tiny Biscuits' fundraiser tonight...but only if a handful of you will just take a moment to help our most delicate little flower, Tiny Biscuits. We're running 2 simultaneous fundraisers - one for Tiny Biscuits' bills, and another for food, so our donor acknowledgements we're putting in the comments for the previous fundraiser (Wednesday's fundraiser was for Tiny Biscuits, and thanks to wonderful donors (which we'll name in the comments) her balance is down to $446.48 with 8 days left before we have to pay it off on the credit card - we're hopeful now we can!). We're flipping back to our food fundraiser because we still have $1022.70 left to pay off on our food this month. Incase our Giving Sunday donors who brought our food balance down to this amount didn't see their thank you, Thank you Racheal B., Maria A., and Jeanne H.!

We feed homemade raw food to our cats (some are eating commercial raw either awaiting transition to homemade or for other reasons), but when we used to feed processed canned food to our cats, we could put our needs out for a case of this or that food on a Wishlist Wednesday or any other day for that matter, and we'd have cases of food arriving in a few days. Since we switched to feeding our animals healthier and better fresh, whole, unprocessed foods...its been a challenge to get support to feed our animals - and we need to - 100% of this work is run 100% on donations! It's been a struggle...even though feeding raw homemade is actually cheaper than feeding processed food...and we'll show you.

Tiki Cat is one of those foods we used to have on our "Wishlist" - you may have donated a case to us before. It's one of the "better" canned foods, but like any food that comes in a can, it's highly processed. Pet food is made from the "4 D's" - dead, diseased, dying, and disabled animals. It's therefore cooked at high temperatures to destroy pathogens, but in the process, that process destroys any nutrition so a laundry list of synthetic nutrients must be added back in to make the food complete and balanced.

Fillers are added to processed pet food to increase weight of the food so that pet food company can increase their profit. Animals' bodies can't use those fillers so they have to eat more of that processed food to get enough of the part they can use. So for a cat we fed Tiki Cat to, we would give them one 2.8 oz can per meal, as opposed to when we feed homemade raw, their bodies can use all of the food so they eat much less - usually between 1.5 and 2 ounces per meal.

A can of Tiki costs $2.19 per meal (2.8 ounces). Our Tiny Biscuits eats 2 oz per meal of homemade raw per meal. For her organic, air-chilled chicken thigh (bought from a human grocery store - so human-grade - what humans who eat meat eat), this particular protein is $.59 per ounce x 2 ounces = $1.19 per meal, but we also have to add a balancer to it (muscle meat does not contain enough essential nutrients like taurine, etc. alone so we use EZ Complete, which contains whole food liver, pancreas, etc to make the meal balanced and complete) which costs $.26 per ounce x 2 ounces = $.52 for a total of $1.71 per meal - a savings of almost $.50 per meal!

Yet we had no issue putting out a plea for cases of Tiki cat cans and having received all that we asked for by end of the day we asked for it.

People buy processed foods for convenience (for themselves and their animals), but in terms of donating food, our donors have always purchased our food off a wishlist - so their is no difference in donating a case of food that Chewy would send us, or the funds for the whole meats we use to make food (because its our volunteers and fosters that put in the work to then make the food). But again, the moment we switched to feeding food our animals bodies can use, our donations slowed to a trickle.

Today is $5 Friday and it would take just 204 donors giving five dollars to completely pay off our food costs for the month. We have 9,000 followers - it wouldn't take many of you to give a little to feed our animals. Or, if you were someone that would have, without hesitation, gone to a wishlist to donate a case of food, Tiki Cat is sold in a 12 pack - which costs $26.28, please consider helping feed our animals in a much healthier way with a donation of the same amount...that will actually serve up more meals to our cats! It would take just 39 $26 donors to pay off our food bills for this month!

If you have even one dollar to give, it will add up when other people also give and feed our cats nutritious food their bodies can use, and hopefully, seeing what we are doing inspires you to feed fresh to your furry family members, too.

I know we sound like a broken record, but its been an extremely low past 30 calendar days of donations. Everything we do for the special animals we serve - and there is no more special than Tiny Biscuits - is by donations. It's very rare that we don't get the help we need to cover her vet care quickly because she's such a fan favorite.

If you, or someone you know, have received a serious diagnosis and someone forms a meal train for you, or your friends or family put together a schedule to do basic chores for you as one less thing for you to worry about while you focus on caring for yourself, that's the kind of support we need right now as we care for Tiny Biscuits. She's always been our special girl because she was born with hydrocephalus, but in April she was diagnosed with intestinal lymphoma, and we are treating her holistically with so many wonderful healing things - but it feels like we are steering the ship alone in the middle of the ocean. Everything we are doing has been from our discovery and research.
