Children’s Wisconsin provides primary care, specialty care, urgent care, emergency care, community health services, foster and adoption services, child and family counseling, child advocacy services and family resource centers.

sconsin page as a space to share the inspiring and encouraging stories of our patients, their families and our fans, allowing you a space to connect with other individuals who have experiences with or affinity for Children’s Wisconsin. In this spirit, we welcome your comments, praise and criticism. While we always monitor and reply to messages and comments, it bears repeating that we’re not legally allowed to discuss specific patients via Facebook. If you have questions regarding your child, it’s best to reach out to their doctor directly. Please understand that while we make every effort to respond on social media, some inquiries may require follow-up through another channel. And please don’t share your personal information on our page — this is a public space. If we are requesting contact information from you, we’ll encourage you to provide it via private message. We won't remove your comment just because we don't like it. You are part of our community, and you deserve to be heard, even if your comment is critical of your experience with us. With that in mind, we have some simple rules that we’ll apply out of respect for others visiting our page, or those who we may feature in our stories.

1) No name-calling
If you disagree with someone, that’s fine. If you have a criticism of Children’s Wisconsin, we want to hear it as well. But we ask that that you respect each other, our patients, their families and our staff. That means not using vulgar language, not mocking appearances or name-calling other members of the page or those individuals featured in our posts. Out of respect for our employees and their privacy, we may also remove a post or comment that refers to them by their full first and last name.

2) No profanity
We recognize that there’s a fairly broad definition of “profanity,” so we ask that you consider your words in the mindset of whether or not what you say is appropriate to be said around a child. If not, please reconsider posting.

3) No advertising or spam content
If you have something to sell, provide services or want a job, that's for your own page, not ours. Spam, whether to advertise or simply repeat any message multiple times on our Facebook wall, is also prohibited.

4) No copy and paste posting
If you keep posting the same thing (or a variant of the same thing), whether as a post or as a comment, we reserve the right to hide or delete duplicates. This includes efforts to cover messages or opinions of those with who you don’t agree with.

5) No misinformation
We view content posted on our page as a representation of our organization and ultimately our medical perspective, which extends to the comments and posts by our community members. For that reason, we may remove posts that contain misinformation as it relates to medical topics such as – but not limited to – vaccinations, COVID-19, community services and more. Actions we may take

1) On Reviews
We will request Facebook remove reviews from individuals who are not reviewing their own experience with our organization. Just because you have a bad experience and share it in a review does not mean we will request it be removed. We want to hear the bad reviews as much as we want to hear the good ones — we need to know when we’re falling short of our standards. That always matters to us.

2) On posts and comments
We reserve the right to delete posts or comments that violate these rules of engagement, and to block users who repeatedly violate them, or otherwise abuse the forum of the Children’s Wisconsin page.

3) Banning/blocking
As mentioned earlier, we may resort to banning individuals from our page should they continue to engage in toxic, inappropriate content as outlined in these rules.

There are many firsts in parenting. And then there is the first broken bone.

When Jack fell awkwardly during recess at school, all the other kids could hear the snap. The school quickly called Jack’s mom who rushed to pick him up and take him to the nearest hospital.

“That's kind of a funny thing — if your kid ever breaks a bone, don't even go to the local hospital,” said Jack’s mom. “We were at that hospital for two-plus hours just to get a temporary cast and get sent to Children’s Wisconsin.”

Being in and out of the hospital isn’t easy, but for 19-year-old Lillian, the therapy dogs at Children’s Wisconsin have always brought comfort, encouragement and a reason to smile. 🐾💙

After experiencing the support therapy dogs provided during hospital stays and long days of medical appointments, Lillian was inspired to give back. She trained her own dog, Dudley Yuska, to provide pet therapy to those who could use a little extra comfort.

Along with his role as a therapy dog for local nursing homes, Dudley serves as Lillian’s medical alert service dog. Dudley helps Lillian manage symptoms related to Trichohepatoenteric Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that causes GI and immune issues. Whether he’s sitting on her lap to reduce stomach cramping, offering a distraction from pain, or showing off one of his 45 tricks, Dudley is always by her side. Lillian uses her expertise to train other dogs as well.

Meet Lennon and Cleo. 💙 These sisters recently became the first children in the country to receive a newly approved gene therapy at Children's Wisconsin for a rare genetic form of hearing loss.

We're proud to be the first center in the nation to deliver this treatment outside of a clinical trial. It's an exciting moment for pediatric hearing care and offers new hope for children and families who may benefit from this treatment in the future.

Sometimes the best medicine is music. 🎷🎶 Eric Essix and his band brought soulful contemporary jazz to our Milwaukee hospital plaza, creating a joyful break in the day for patients and families.

Thanks to the creativity and coordination of our Child Life team, kids and caregivers had the opportunity to gather, listen and enjoy a little normalcy through the power of live music.

This special event was made possible through Horicon Bank’s sponsorship and our partnership with Fresh Coast Jazz Festival, helping bring moments of joy and connection to the children and families we serve. 💙

The Papes' journey at Children’s Wisconsin began in 1988 when Andrew's sister, Alyssa, was born with a congenital heart defect and diagnosed with Marfan syndrome, a genetic condition that affects the heart, aorta, eyes and skeletal system. Andrew watched his sister receive incredible care throughout her childhood. Though the family lost sweet Alyssa at 16 due to Loeys-Dietz syndrome complications, a condition closely related to Marfan syndrome, her courage and the care she received shaped the family forever.

When Andrew was diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm at 26, he returned to the Herma Heart Institute at Children's Wisconsin. The newly launched Adult Congenital Heart Program was perfect timing — experts understood his condition and family's complex medical history.

Andrew and Mary's children, Ruby and Oliver, now also receive care at the Herma Heart Institute. They have the same connective tissue mutation as their dad but are thriving thanks to early detection and preventative care. Their yearly appointments have become like family reunions with care teams who've watched them grow.

Why are over 50 restaurants coming together to give back to Children’s Wisconsin on Thursday, August 27? To celebrate Vivianna and support kids like her during Do Good With Food!

Vivianna’s family rushed her to our Emergency Department (ED) just 5 days after being born. She wasn’t breathing when the family arrived, but the ED team quickly resuscitated her, put her on a ventilator and admitted her to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where she stayed for almost a month.

In 2019, grateful for the care that saved their daughter's life, the Fazzari family celebrated Vivianna’s birthday by donating their restaurant sales to Children's Wisconsin and starting Do Good With Food. Today, the event includes over 50 restaurants, and Vivianna is playing softball and loves trying new, fun things.
