"The color Orange is to remember those who have survived". Today we honor survivors, and we will never forget those that suffered. Their languages stolen, attempts to erase our existence. We are still here.
🪶 Please join us on Saturday, October 3. Walk with us to honor the girls who attended the House of the Good Shepherd Industrial School. We will say their names, where others tried to erase them. They will not be forgotten. We will run, walk, gather & remember in their honor.
🧡 We wear orange to honor the survivors, and we realize why we are still here. 🪶

Please join us Saturday for the MKE - EVERY CHILD MATTERS WALK - The Untold Story of Milwaukee's Indian Boarding School to honor the girls not forgotten. 🧡🪶

The graves of at least 11 Indigenous girls who died while attending a federally funded Indian Boarding School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, have been identified.

Saturday, October 3 MKE - EVERY CHILD MATTERS WALK - The Untold Story of Milwaukee's Indian Boarding School cooking over the fire with Gerald L. Ignace Indian Health Center, Inc. and Medicine Fish 🧡🪶

COOKING OVER THE FIRE 🔥 As we come together to support the MKE - EVERY CHILD MATTERS WALK - The Untold Story of Milwaukee's Indian Boarding School, join GLIIHC team members for an event of community, food, and traditional cooking.

Medicine Fish from the Menominee Nation has generously donated buffalo meat, and we will be sharing late-season vegetables. Together, we will teach and learn how to prepare food over an open fire, a practice that was once a familiar part of everyday life.

Bring your interest, a guest, and a Feast Bundle so you can share in the meal when the cooking lessons are complete. There will be no sit-down meal. Instead, come to the fire, learn, cook, eat, and celebrate the harvest with community.

All are welcome, whether you're experienced with cooking over a fire or learning for the first time.
