Nearby Nature monitors wildlife in Hopkins Hollow as well as keeping an eye on watershed behaviors like flooding. Some ducks passing by triggered our wildlife camera when the creek raised to about 8.3 feet at the Sherman Ave gauge. This occurred twice during August, on the 1st and the 21st. Our wildlife camera, which is about 10 feet above Lincoln Creek, got "bricked" on September 19th when the water level reached 12.4 feet. The sudden rise and fall of the gauge shows the danger involved in being near the creek during heavy rains. Most neighborhood storm sewers drain into Lincoln Creek. The section of the creek from Sherman to 35th street is walled off, possibly for this very reason.
