🌹 Celebrating 58 Years of Blessed Mary of the Apostles!

On October 13, 1968, Pope Paul VI beatified Blessed Mary of the Apostles (Maria Therese von Wüllenweber), cofounder of the Sisters of the Divine Savior, in a ceremony at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

Her journey was one of extraordinary faith, perseverance, and a deep desire to make the Savior known to all people.

Together with Blessed Francis Mary of the Cross Jordan, she founded the Sisters of the Divine Savior in 1888, establishing a religious community dedicated to sharing God’s love through service, compassion, and ministry.

Today, 58 years after her beatification, her spirit lives on through Salvatorian Sisters serving communities around the world.

As we celebrate this special anniversary, we give thanks for her vision, her courage, and the enduring legacy of a woman who answered God’s call with her whole heart.

Today we celebrate Sr. Barbara and give thanks for her life of faithful service, compassionate heart, and dedication to the mission of the Sisters of the Divine Savior.
Through her ministry, prayer, and presence, Sr. Barbara has shared the goodness and kindness of God with those around her. We are grateful for the many ways she has touched lives and for the unique gifts she continues to share with our community.
As the colors of autumn surround us, we celebrate the gift of Sr. Barbara and pray that the year ahead brings her joy, peace, good health, and abundant blessings.

May Your Kin-dom Come
O God, by your breath,
you are the one Source of Life for all people.
Hallowed be your name.

Bind us into one circle of love
for our wounded world.
Transform us into people of light:

to brighten the darkness,
to be balm for the fearful,
to break down boundaries until we know one geography: the Earth,
and to be your hallowed presence in our world.

May your Kin-dom come.

O Jesus, bearer of our salvation,
you love us and are with us.
Give us this day our daily bread.

Feed our wounded hearts with your healing compassion:

nurture our grief and vulnerability through your faithful presence,
allow our tears to soften our hearts,
stir within us the call to conversion,
deepen our hunger for peace, justice, and freedom for all people,
and send us to embrace the children, the poor, and the vulnerable of our world.

Fill us with gratitude
for the treasures and joys that truly matter.

May your Kin-dom come.

O Spirit of God, living in our hearts,
give us wisdom.
Forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.

🎉 100 years of Divine Savior High School!
On September 27, we celebrated a special milestone in the history of the Sisters of the Divine Savior: 100 years since the founding of Divine Savior High School.
The story begins with Sr. Hedwig Poetsch, SDS, who became the first Provincial Superior when the Congregation was divided into provinces in 1926. That same year, Sr. Hedwig transferred the Sisters’ high school from St. Nazianz to St. Mary’s Convent in Milwaukee and gave it a new name: Divine Savior High School.
In 1948, Divine Savior High School moved to the location pictured here and opened its doors to girls throughout the Milwaukee area.
Then, in 1970, Divine Savior High School and Holy Angels Academy came together to form Divine Savior Holy Angels High School (DSHA) — carrying the Sisters’ educational mission into a new chapter.
A century after Divine Savior High School began, its legacy lives on at DSHA, where generations of young women have been educated, encouraged and empowered.
Today we celebrate 100 years since the founding of Divine Savior High School and give thanks for Sr. Hedwig, the Sisters who followed her, and all those who have carried that mission forward.
100 years. A legacy that continues. 💙

Today we celebrate Sr. Betty and give thanks for her life of faithful service, joyful spirit, and dedication to the mission of the Sisters of the Divine Savior.

Through the years, Sr. Betty has shared the goodness and kindness of God through her compassionate presence, generous heart, and care for others. We are grateful for the many lives she has touched and for the gift she continues to be to our community.

As the seasons begin to change and the beauty of fall surrounds us, we celebrate Sr. Betty and all the ways her life and ministry have brought goodness into the lives of others.

🎙️ — What’s Sister Jean doing?

That’s Sister Jean Schafer, SDS, speaking into a sound-dampening box and lending her voice to a new creative project.

The Sisters of the Divine Savior and U.S. Lay Salvatorians are collaborating to bring the poetry of Blessed Mother Mary of the Apostles to life in a new way — pairing her words and spirituality with a distinctly 21st-century approach.

Sister Jean has been behind the microphone recording the first piece…and we’re pretty excited about where this is headed.

For now, that’s all we’re saying. 😉 Stay tuned!

🚁 Not your average day at the Community House!

Yesterday, the Sisters had a front-row seat as a helicopter helped install light poles for the new softball and soccer fields next door at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School. The precision of the pilot and crews on the ground was something to see — just ask Sr. Evelyn!

But beyond the excitement, there was something special about watching a place the Sisters helped establish continue to grow, change and create new opportunities for young women.

What they began continues to grow. 💙

On this day, September 14, 1900, the Sisters moved into St. Mary’s Convent at 35th and Center Streets in Milwaukee.

The convent itself is long gone, but the story that began within its walls remains part of the Sisters of the Divine Savior’s history in Milwaukee.

For generations, places like St. Mary’s were more than buildings. They were homes, places of prayer and community, and starting points from which Sisters went out to serve wherever they were needed.

126 years later, we remember the Sisters who called St. Mary’s home and the many chapters of Salvatorian life and ministry that have unfolded since.
