BREAKING: The ACLU of Wisconsin and the Electronic Frontier Foundation today filed a petition directly with the Wisconsin Supreme Court asking the Court to require the government to obtain a judicial warrant in order to query data collected by automated license plate readers.

ALPR technology scans and stores vehicle data from countless drivers every day, enabling the government to track where people drive and when — without their knowledge or consent and without a warrant. These devices collect everyone’s data, not just data on vehicles associated with a crime.

Law enforcement’s retrospective querying of these kinds of ALPR databases without any constitutional safeguards constitutes illegal searches, so we're taking legal action on behalf of the Wisconsin Council of Churches and an individual pastor.

📢📢 The Fire and Police Commission’s audit report on Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) is out! 📢📢

Join the Milwaukee Turners at the FPC meeting on Thursday, October 15 to tell all city officials that we do not want AI powered warrantless mass surveillance in Milwaukee. The FPC meeting will be held in City Hall Room 301-B at 5:30 p.m. A virtual option is also available.

We were proud to stand with Black Leaders Organizing for Communities, Milwaukee Turners at Turner Hall, and other community leaders as County Executive David Crowley signed legislation to remove Flock cameras from Milwaukee County park property.

Our community's message is clear: We do not want AI powered warrantless mass surveillance in Milwaukee.
