It is with mixed emotions that I inform you that after 101 years IAM Automotive Mechanics local lodge 510 disbanded early this summer and has merged with the Tool and Die Makers Lodge 78 in Milwaukee. Do to the fact of Badger Ford in Milwaukee having to sell the property they were on because of a freeway expansion project the owners decided to close the Ford division of Badger Truck. With this being said we lost half of the 510 E-board members and the local was down to 3 companies in the local and 78 dues paying members. So the E-board had to make a decision on what was next and we felt the best fit for 510 was to merge with IAM Tool and Die Makers Lodge 78. As many of you know we had the Frank J Bauza Scholarship in honor of Frank's legacy and long time of service local 510. The President of Lodge 78 is Frank's son Phil Bauza also a longtime member of the IAM. Phil has a great deal of knowledge about 510 growing up with his Dad so involved with Local 510. Lodge 78 is also going to keep the Bauza Scholarship going to honor Frank and his family who are 3 generation IAM union members. IAM Tool and Die Makers Lodge 78 was established in 1944 in Milwaukee, WI, before the merged they had 339 active dues paying members representing 7 different companies. Lodge 78 is located inside Local 66 located at 1650 S.38th St. In Milwaukee, WI. Lodge 78 monthly membership meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm.
