The Pope’s Prayer Network addresses the challenges facing humanity and assists the mission of the Church. We pray and work to meet the challenges of the world identified by the Pope in his monthly intentions, while walking a spiritual path called the "Way of the Heart.”

The Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network (Apostleship of Prayer) began in France in 1844. Francis Xavier Gautrelet told a group of Jesuit seminarians who were eager to work on the missions: "Be apostles now, apostles of prayer! Offer everything you are doing each day in union with the Heart of our Lord for what He wishes, the spread of the Kingdom for the salvation of souls." Devotion to this simple, profound way of life spread, and in time the Pope himself proposed a particular monthly intention and since 1929 a specific mission intention has also been proposed to the faithful for their prayerful attention. Truly the Apostleship of Prayer/Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network is the Pope's own "prayer group." It is, as Pope John Paul II wrote in 1985, "a precious treasure from the Pope's heart and the Heart of Christ." Today, the Apostleship of Prayer/Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network has over 50 million members worldwide. This page is for the USA and Canada national offices of the Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network. Pope Leo XIV has asked for our prayers.

In his own words: “During some recent medical examinations, the doctors found a small, localized nodule in my lung. It was detected at a very early stage… I have decided to undergo surgery to remove it. The operation is already scheduled to take place in the coming days. I thank you for your spiritual closeness and entrust myself to your prayers.”

Let’s answer him together. Pause now and pray:

Let us pray for our Pope, Leo. May the Lord preserve him, give him life, and make him blessed on earth. Lord, guide the hands of his doctors and grant him a full recovery. Amen.

Then add an Amen or 🙏 in the comments so he knows the network is praying with him.

Today we celebrate St. Thérèse of Lisieux, co-patron of the Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network. 🌹

In October 1885, just shy of her 13th birthday, Thérèse joined this very prayer network. She went on to show the whole Church that holiness is built from small things: a hidden sacrifice, a kind word, a prayer offered with love.

Two ways to celebrate her today:
🌹 Pray: St. Thérèse, you offered your whole life for the mission of the Church. Intercede for us and for all the intentions we carry today. Teach us your Little Way. Amen.
🌹 Live it: Choose one small, unnoticed act of love today and offer it for the Holy Father's intentions.

She promised to spend her heaven doing good on earth. Let's ask her for help.

Today, September 14, we're celebrating Pope Leo XIV's birthday — 71 years old today. 🎂
From Chicago to Peru to Rome, his life has been one long "yes" to shepherding others. Today we get to say thank you for that, and to pray for the years ahead.
This month, he's asked the whole Church to pray for the just and sustainable care of water — a resource that gives life, and one far too many people still go without. So as our gift to him today, let's pray that same intention back over him:
"Lord, renew in your servant Leo the strength and joy to shepherd your people. Give him health, wisdom, and courage as he leads us in caring for water, for the poor, and for one another."
