This week, we're celebrating a major investment in Milwaukee housing counseling.

Acts Housing, alongside Housing Resources, Inc. and United Community Center, is being recognized for the impact of the 2025-2026 Community First® Housing Counseling Resource Program, made possible by Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) and FHLBank Chicago.

Since October 2025, this investment has helped our three agencies combined deliver homebuyer education to over 3,000 Milwaukee families and support more than 850 first-time buyers on their path to homeownership. It's also enabled the hiring of new housing counselors and expanded services into more communities across the city.

We're honored to join Mayor Cavalier Johnson, WHEDA CEO Elmer Moore Jr., and Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago President & CEO Michael Ericson in celebrating this partnership — and what it means for Milwaukee families working toward homeownership.

This investment is a direct reflection of Mayor Johnson's "Year of Housing" vision for Milwaukee — and we're proud to be part of making it real.

Today, FHLBank Chicago joined Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) in Milwaukee to celebrate Acts Housing, Housing Resources, Inc. and United Community Center, three of 14 Wisconsin organizations receiving grants through our Community First® Housing Counseling Resource Program (HCRP).

Through the HCRP, we’re proud to strengthen housing counseling organizations across Illinois and Wisconsin, expanding their capacity to provide the trusted guidance and financial preparation that help more individuals and families navigate the path to successful, sustainable homeownership.

What a night at the 2026 MANDI Awards! 🏆

Huge congratulations to the Early Childhood Educators Homeownership Initiative – Developer Group — VIA CDC, Envision Growth, Milwaukee Community Crossroads, and Rooted & Rising - Washington Park — on receiving the Husch Blackwell Building Blocks Award, and being named a Wells Fargo People's Choice Award winner.

As a partner in this initiative, we've had the privilege of seeing this work up close, and it's been incredible to watch it grow from an idea into real homes for real families. 42 early childhood educators and their families are now homeowners — most for the first time in their lives — building stability and wealth that will carry forward for generations.

Our team enjoyed celebrating alongside everyone last week, seeing this work — and so much other incredible work across our community — recognized by LISC Milwaukee (Local Initiatives Support Corporation) and the MANDIs.

Congratulations to all of the partners, and most of all, to the new homeowners. 💚

Tony is retiring!

After so many years as a Homebuyer Coach here at Acts Housing, Tony is hanging up his hat. Hundreds of families got the keys to their own home because he showed up for them, session after session, year after year.
