We are grateful to so many for attending this week's JCRC Annual Meeting where the Robert H. Friebert Social Justice Award was presented to Evelyn Price and the 2025 Wisconsin Audit on Antisemitism was reviewed.

The JCRC serves as the representative of the Jewish community on public affairs and public policy by convening and mobilizing the Jewish community through education, advocacy, social justice, and support for Israel. We work to build bridges with other interfaith and community leaders, elected officials, and other organizations striving towards social justice for all.

See CBS story on the event here: https://www.cbs58.com/news/it-s-inappropriate-it-s-hateful-it-s-hurtful-wisconsin-antisemitic-incidents-hit-record-high-rising-more-than-900-over-decade-report-says

Confirmed antisemitic incidents in Wisconsin surged to 174 in 2025, an 83% increase from 2024 to 2025, according to the 2025 Audit of Antisemitic Incidents released today by the Jewish Community Relations Council - Milwaukee of Milwaukee Jewish Federation. Since 2015, the number of incidents has risen by 923%.

A significant driver of antisemitic incidents was the rise of anti-Israel and anti-Zionist “collective blame” rhetoric, present in 58% of reported cases. While criticism of Israeli government policies or military decisions is not inherently antisemitic, holding all Jews responsible for those actions is. The report documents a rise in Holocaust inversion and inappropriate N**i comparisons, and also notes that online antisemitism has reached alarming levels, frequently fueling harassment and real-world acts of hate.

Our heartfelt condolences to those who lost loved ones in this senseless violence today. We wish all who were injured a refuah shlemah - a full and speedy recovery.

We thank all of the brave first responders for their quick response - and especially the security guard who risked his life to save others.

Jewish Federations of North America mourn alongside the community of the Islamic Center in San Diego following today’s horrific shooting. No one should ever fear for their safety while gathering in prayer, community, or worship.

This tragedy comes as more than 400 Jewish Federation leaders from across the country arrive In Washington, DC, to advocate lawmakers for $1 billion in security funding to help protect houses of worship and faith-based institutions nationwide.

Today’s attack is yet another painful reminder that the threat facing religious communities in America is real, urgent, and growing.

We must call out antisemitism and all forms of hatred whenever and wherever they occur. This hateful attack on Libson Village Hall and the 9/11 Memorial is an attack on the community at large, the Jewish community, and on democratic values we should all uphold.

The JCRC joins Congregation Emanu-El of Waukesha in thanking the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department for its continued investigation to bring the perpetrator(s) to justice. We also add thanks to Congregation Emanu-El of Waukesha for its leadership's swift and appropriate statement - encouraging us to ensure all of our neighbors are "valued, safe, and welcome."
