For the first time in 25 years, incarcerated people in Wisconsin can ask the governor to shorten their sentences.

And a new poll commissioned by the ACLU suggests most Wisconsin voters support giving at least some people a form of clemency.

51% support ending or shortening sentences for people who meet certain criteria and can safely return to their communities, compared with 37% who oppose it.

Those findings come as 12 incarcerated Wisconsinites prepare to make their cases before the state’s Commutation Advisory Board on Friday — the first hearing since Gov. Tony Evers revived the process this spring.

New Episode of Interfaith Voices: Stronger Together

With ICE enforcement surges hitting cities across Wisconsin and the country, protecting our immigrant communities has never been more urgent. In this episode, we're joined by Nikki Fisher, interim co-executive director of WISDOM, to talk about the work being done to support and protect immigrants right now — and what's ahead at the first annual Wisconsin Immigration Summit, taking place July 31–August 1 at Marian University in Fond du Lac.

Tune in to hear how communities are organizing, showing up, and standing stronger together.
