There is a lot to do.

Do what you can.

Share to your circles.

We can get it all done together.

During this time, we are not cooking fresh meals. We are currently providing bag-lunches to-go for our guests. This is not how we normally operate and we are in need of some assistance getting supplies.

If you are interested and able to give back to your community during this time, The Gathering is in need of the following donations:

- Brown Lunch bags
- Ziplock Sandwich bags
- Individual snack packs
- Individual bags of chips
- Bottled water
- Individual juice boxes
- Fresh fruit (apples or oranges)
- Fruit cups
- Bread
- Individual Tuna Pouches

*We unfortunately can not accept any pre-made sandwiches/meals at this time

If you’re able to contribute, all donations can be dropped off Monday-Friday, 7-10:30am at our Running Rebels meal site (1300 W Fond du Lac Ave).

Thank you for your support in feeding our community.

We need your help to make Milwaukee Krampusnacht 2019 a success. We need everything from help moving tables to assisting kids with craft projects. Volunteers get free admission for themselves and a guest. Most shifts are pretty short and volunteers are a vital part of making this event fun for everyone. Here's the volunteer form:

December 5...a brisk winter night...the bells ringing, the chains rattling... Have you been naughty or nice? The KRAMPUS will know! But they need your help! Volunteer Call Out! We Can't Do It Without You! We need your help from Set-up to Break-down. Helping at the front door, in the kid's craft room...

Milwaukee Krampusnacht 2018 is still in need of volunteers on Wednesday evening. Please consider signing up for a shift. It is also the only way to still get guaranteed entry to the vendors and music and more inside The Bavarian Bierhaus.

Link to sign up for volunteering in comments.

"KRAMPUSNACHT draws near! In Alpine lore, December 5 is a night that children are visited by kindly Saint Nick and his dark companion, Krampus the Christmas demon. The good are rewarded, the bad are punished, and then we return you to your regularly scheduled sugary, sappy Christmas season.

The 2nd annual Milwaukee Krampusnacht, produced by a group called Milwaukee Krampus, promises to be bigger and better than last years sold out event, a fun evening of local music, craft vendors, food and drink, activities, and a Krampus Parade!
When: Weds., Dec 5., 5-11pm
Where: Bavarian Bierhaus, 700 W. Lexington Blvd, Glendale, WI

Here are some highlights for this year:

*The American Science & Surplus Krampus Parade (7pm), where you encounter a wild pack of Krampus and other frightening characters (but dont worry, Angels will be handing out candy and treats, too)!

*Our fantastic music line-up includes The Squeezettes (6pm), Sunspot (8pm), Xposed 4heads (9pm), and Sweet Sheiks (10pm). Cut a rug with some Krampuses out on the dance floor!

*The Krampus Market will feature 20 talented local vendors who will be offering gift ideas for the unique people in your life. Youll find ornaments, Krampus cards, jewelry, candles, dolls, artwork, strange and rare items, and lots more.
Vendor line-up here: https://milwaukeekrampus.wordpress.com/blog/

*Were thrilled to say The Bavarian Bierhaus will be brewing a special barrel aged whiskey dopplebock released at this event called Bells & Chains! They also have a delicious menu that includes German favorites, pretzels, and a fantastic selection of their own brews and other drinks.

*Other activities include a Krampus Kids Hour from 5-6pm, that will feature a Kinder-Krampus Parade, storytelling, and a craft project. Theres a white elephant gift exchange at 8pm, and our popular Krampus Photo Booth will return.

*We are also proud to support the charity Toys for Tots at this event. Please bring a toy donation and spread the holiday cheer. "

Hi Everyone!

As you know I love volunteerism and working with organizations that utilize the skills, time and energy of volunteers. I have done so in many different capacities for different orgs and co-ops and am super excited to announce the newest chapter of my organizing:

I am honored to be the new manager of the BookSeller Used Book store operated by the Friends of Milwaukee Public Library at the Central Library!

This amazing bookstore has been open for 20 years and until now has been 100% VOLUNTEER staffed! I have been having a great week getting to know all the volunteers and coming on board.

It is a great staff that would love some new energy as there are tons of books to be sorted and shelved and some amazing community connections and projects that just need a more robust volunteer roster to get started.

One connection I just learned of today is the Libraries Teen Advisory Board is in need of Young Adult paper back books as they have been organizing a book drive for the the students at Vel R.Phillips Juvenile Justice Center. They are doing a great job and I hope to support them in their work.

So of course here is the ask:

I hope to fill about 12 weekly shifts in the next coming weeks, the shifts are 3.5- 4 hours long and can be in the store or sorting room.
It is a lovely way to spend a morning or afternoon.

As a thank you the volunteers gain store credit of $2.00 an hour(which adds up when most books are 25cents to a dollar!) and the Friends offer quarterly reimbursement for parking or bus-fare .

Reach out to me here or send me an email
[email protected]

But regardless of volunteering, come say hi and pick up some books.

xoxo

P.s. the internet makes this picture upside down, but I promise gravity works as normal at the BookSeller!

The Milwaukee Public Library: inspiration starts here - we help people read, learn, and connect.

Your'e Doing It! Riverwest Food Co-op edition:
Where it all started. Sixteen years ago I was lucky to be around for the start of the Riverwest Food Co-op and Cafe and get my start at volunteer coordinating. I still love volunteering there and I think you will too! I am excited to introduce you to Ousia, the volunteer coordinator at the Riverwest Food Co-op and Cafe.

Also: Still need some volunteers for the Milwaukee Paranormal Conference 2017 this Sunday!
