Who has the right to walk along the Lake Michigan shoreline? It's a question that sounds simple - but a case making its way through the Wisconsin courts right now shows it's anything but.
A Shorewood resident was cited for trespassing after walking along the lakeshore north of Atwater Beach. He's appealing, arguing that the public has a right to access the shoreline under Wisconsin's Public Trust Doctrine. The case could eventually reach the state Supreme Court.
