"We Got This" is a grassroots community initiative that empowers youth to become active in the cleanup of their own community in the 53206 zip code.

Our Summer Saturday morning program empowers young people and beautifies the area around 9th and Ring. "We Got This" is a grassroots community initiative that empowers youth to become active in the cleanup of their own community. We are proud to say we were able to contribute over 1,000 hours of service this summer to the community and your support allowed that to happen. For 12 weeks this summer,

young people from the area surrounding the garden on 9th and Ring congregated at We Got This to pick up trash, tend to the garden beds, and construct new garden spaces. Our young men and women worked hard on those Saturday mornings and the money they received for their work provided valuable lessons that will pay dividends in the future. Our community garden, that the youth tended to, provides free food for any residents in the area. This campaign was created to HELP PAY young black children for four hours of work, many of whom for the first time are learning how to be responsible and to earn money to better themselves and their community. HOW WE BENEFIT. The positive message of the We Got This Program goes way BEYOND HELPING KIDS EARN; it's greater lesson is to TEACH ALL OF MILWAUKEE - particularly the black community - that WE CAN COME TOGETHER and TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN by simply SUPPORTING ONE ANOTHER and causes such as this that helps to better the lives of others in our community. WE are YOU! - SO PLEASE GIVE WHAT EVER YOU CAN GIVE. NO AMOUNT IS TO LITTLE OR TO GREAT and to make it truly successful requires full participation from our community, so SHARE THIS WITH EVERY ONE that you know. We Got This is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit.

This summer at 9th & Ring, kids showed up every Saturday ready to work, learn, and make their neighborhood better — and they did.

Here’s what they accomplished:
375+ kids worked in the garden
7,000+ hours poured back into 53206
15,000 gallons of trash cleaned up
15+ lots cared for and beautified
$40,000 paid to kids for their work
Thousands of pounds of free produce shared in a food desert
Our Flower Farm grew, creating beauty and meaningful work

Events that gave back:
Back-to-School Giveaway • Afternoon Bouquets • Homecoming flowers • Fall workdays • Holiday Gift Shop • Coat Drive

In 2026, we’re growing leadership, expanding food access, and turning even more land into community assets.

HUGE thank you to the Shorewood Community Network, they helped donate so many gifts for our Holiday Shop—hosting multiple drop-off locations, rallying their community, and filling two SUVs with donations for We Got This families.

We also want to give a big thank you to Jamila Iamjriley Riley and Flour Girl & Flame for their generous donations for the shop. And of course, thank YOU to everyone who jumped in with last-minute toys and gifts.

You truly put the WE in We Got This, and because of you, our kids got to experience the joy of giving this holiday.

Huge thank you to everyone who made our Holiday Gift Shop and Coat Drive such a success!

Because of you, over 100 kids were able to pick out gifts for their siblings, parents, or loved ones—and we gave out more than 250 coats to help keep our community warm.

An extra special shoutout to our student leaders, who did an incredible job helping kids choose gifts and keeping everything running smoothly.

Today is the last day to drop off coats. Thanks for all who have donated and for these wonderful businesses for partnering with us! Make sure to support them all winter long.

Our Winter Coat Drive keeps growing—thank you to everyone who has already dropped off coats and cold-weather gear. Keep them coming!

We’re excited to add two new drop-off locations:
HoneyBee Sage Wellness new location in the Third Ward and NONA in Mequon.

We’re still accepting donations through next week — and we especially need: • 3T & 4T for kids • Adult/teen sizes: XL, XXL, ###L

Remaining coats will be given out next Saturday at noon at the garden.
