Voces de la Frontera Action Statement on the Election of Chris Taylor to the Wisconsin Supreme Court

(Milwaukee, April 7, 2026)—Today’s election marks a definitive shift in the composition of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, one that will have real consequences for how justice is interpreted and applied across our state. With Chris Taylor joining the Court, the balance now moves to a 5–2 majority aligned with protecting fundamental rights, strengthening the Court’s ability to uphold the Constitution and serve the people of Wisconsin.

“The role of the Court is not to serve political agendas, but to uphold equal protection under the law and safeguard the rights of all people. This election reflects the growing movement to defend democratic principles by electing justices grounded in progressive values: a commitment to fairness, accountability, and the principle that the Constitution must protect everyone—not just the wealthy or those in power,” said Christine Neumann-Ortiz, Executive Director of Voces de la Frontera Action.

According to Mario Garcia Sierra, board president for Voces de la Frontera Action, “At a time when our constitutional rights for free speech, peaceful protest, and due process are under attack, today’s outcome is a powerful reminder that grassroots participation can shape the direction of our institutions.
