Follow us and see what UW-Milwaukee Best Buddies is doing to help raise awareness for people with intellectual and developmental .You can help by liking our page and encouraging your friends to do the same! We give them the college experience and friendship that they've never had. As a group, we go out in the community on outings such as bucks games, brewer games, shopping at the mall, movies, goi
ng out to eat ect.. Different types of members:
Associate: Comes to the monthly group outings and helps out when they can. Even though there is no minimum required attendance for associate members, we would like you to come to every group activity. We plan them months in advanced, so you have time to ask off work and what not. Peer buddy: UWM student matched up with an adult with a disability. You are required to meet with your buddy at least twice a month (once can be the group activity) and communicate weekly. This is a bigger commitment, and we expect you to hold up to your end of the bargain. This org means a lot to our buddys, and when their peer buddy signs up but doesn't hold up to their end of the friendship, they get disappointed by it. If you are joining as a peer buddy, this shouldn't be that hard to meet the minimum requirements and it shouldn't be a "chore". You should do it because you are passionate about this and want to make a difference. Buddies- Same as the peer buddy, but for adults with disabilities. Same minimum requirements as the peer buddy. If you have any specific questions, comments and or concerns, feel free to contact us.
