🎉 We're celebrating! Thanks to our generous matching donors and YOU, we maxxed out our $10,000 match early - and we're halfway to our goal of raising $70,000 for urgent building repairs to Turner Hall! 🥰

We still need support to make it to our goal, replace our broken ADA lift and address time-sensitive masonry repairs on the facades of historic Turner Hall. Share or support us at the 🔗💞

📢📢 Join the Milwaukee Turners at the Fire and Police Commission meeting on Thursday, September 3 to demand an end to Flock and all Automatic License Plate Readers in Milwaukee. The Mayor’s restrictions are not enough and we cannot trust the oversight policies of private, third-party companies at this moment in history.

Show City of Milwaukee officials that the Common Council must cancel the city’s existing Flock contract and commit to listening to the community before considering any future surveillance contract.

The FPC meeting will be held in City Hall Room 301-B at 6:30 p.m. A virtual option is also available.

Turner Hall is a survivor. Situated between two parking lots, it is one of the last remaining 19th century buildings on the northwest edge of Downtown. Built in 1882, and designed by renowned Milwaukee architect Henry Koch, the building stands tall and proud amidst a neighborhood that has moved from industry, breweries and small-scale immigrant storefronts to Downtown’s late 20th and early 21st century big business developments.

Thanks to the Shepherd Express for highlighting our Building Fundraiser as we grow through this incredibly exciting renaissance for the Milwaukee Turners!

"Milwaukee's instances of misuse come as dozens of complaints nationwide and others in Wisconsin have prompted Flock Safety, the company that sells and operates the cameras and accompanying system, to implement new guardrails on how it is used. Many of those changes – things like reduced data retention periods and changes to how much data is shared across agencies – remain up to local law enforcement agencies to implement."

The letter, authored by Ald. Marina Dimitrijevic, includes specific policy change recommendations and seeks a response by no later than Sept. 30. See link below ⬇️

We had a JOYFUL morning at the Clinton and Bernice Rose Senior Center Grand Re-opening today.

Well over one hundred county residents celebrated the program and ribbon cutting at the Clinton and Bernice Rose Senior Center as they celebrated the incredible, new upgrades to the facility. It was extra special because the needs and desires of the older adults who use the facility were woven throughout the extensive project.

Governor Evers, County Executive David Crowley and DHHS Director Shakita LaGrant-McClain were welcomed by Site Manager Sheila Carter for an hour-long, festive event centered around the members including dances from the Roselettes and others.

The Milwaukee Turners are honored to have had a space added to the event by the residents as we continue to offer free zumba and yoga there on a weekly basis.

Come check out their new digs and see all of the upgrades like the medical health and computer centers!!
