Yesterday, the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. – Delta Chi Lambda Chapter hosted our Brotherhood Highway Clean Up & Brunch, bringing together two things at the heart of Alpha: service to our community and fellowship with one another.

Brothers rolled up their sleeves to clean our Adopt-A-Highway site on Milwaukee’s northwest side, doing our part to help keep the community we serve clean and beautiful. A special thank you to Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful (KGMB) for providing supplies to support our cleanup efforts!

Following our morning of service, we continued the fellowship with a Brotherhood Brunch at Kitchen Eleven 11, a Black Woman-owned restaurant, where we enjoyed amazing food, great service, and even better brotherhood.

We’re proud to make this the first of many opportunities to strengthen our bonds while making a visible impact throughout Greater Milwaukee.

Stronger in brotherhood. Greater in service. 🤙🏾

Service to our Communities is more than something we do—it’s a reflection of who we are.

The brothers of Delta Chi Lambda Chapter and the Epsilon Tau City-Wide Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated were honored to partner with Carvd N Stone Foundation during its Authors of Color Book Fair, helping community members select free books while assisting with the setup and breakdown of this incredible event.

This opportunity was especially meaningful because it served as a continuation of our efforts that began at our Fire & Ice Day Party, where, alongside the distinguished women of the Milwaukee Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, we collected books to help expand access to diverse stories and educational resources within our community.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve and believe that lasting impact is created through meaningful partnerships and collective action. Thank you to Carvd N Stone Foundation and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, for allowing us to be part of this important initiative. We look forward to many more opportunities to uplift our communities together.

The brothers of the Delta Chi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated mourn the passing and celebrate the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of our beloved fraternity brother, Brother Dr. William Finlayson, who has entered Omega Chapter.

Initiated into Beta Nu Chapter on December 21, 1942, Brother Dr. Finlayson exemplified the very essence of Alpha Phi Alpha through a lifetime committed to scholarship, servant leadership, perseverance, and love for all mankind. As one of Milwaukee’s pioneering African American OB-GYN physicians, he broke barriers in medicine, delivered thousands of babies, and cared for generations of families throughout our community with compassion, dignity, and excellence.

Brother Dr. Finlayson’s impact extended far beyond medicine. He was a visionary leader who helped establish North Milwaukee State Bank, Wisconsin’s first Black-owned bank, helping create pathways for Black economic empowerment and opportunity in Milwaukee. His life’s work helped shape not only the presence of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated within this city, but also the broader legacy of Black excellence, leadership, and community advancement throughout Milwaukee.

For generations, he stood as a beacon of grace, intellect, service, and unwavering commitment to uplifting others. His legacy will forever live on through the countless lives he touched, the barriers he dismantled, the institutions he helped build, and the many people he inspired to pursue excellence and service above self.

We extend our deepest prayers and heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, patients, fraternity brothers, and all who were blessed to know and love him.

“Servant of All.”
