Get in the Halloween spirit with these festive train rides! 🎃

MLES Pumpkin Train Rides
📍 Cedarburg

At the Milwaukee Light Engineering Society, you can sit on top of a train and ride it through the neighborhood, decorated for Halloween! While nighttime trains get dark, the decorations aren't spooky.

Wristbands are $10 for guests over 3 and let you ride as many times as you'd like! It can get a little busy during peak times, so expect to wait in line a bit, but there are plenty of concessions available on-site. 🚂

Trick-or-Treat Trains
📍 East Troy

You can ride a 100-year-old train from the East Troy Railroad Museum to Jim Byrnes Memorial Park for festive games and trick-or-treating! This experience is more about enjoying the train ride and the fun games than collecting candy.

Trick-or-Treat Trains are scheduled for Fridays at 5 & 6 PM. The experience lasts about 2 hours!

Fun Things to Do with Kids This Weekend in Milwaukee ⬇️

🎃 38th Annual Halloween Haunts at Wehr — Today through Saturday, Wehr Nature Center is celebrating the 38th Annual Halloween Haunts! Each year, Wehr’s woodland transforms into an Enchanted Forest, complete with a cackling witch, a talking owl, and even some rapping arthropods.

🎃 Boo at the Zoo — Friday and Saturday, enjoy a not-so-scary Halloween outing with a trick-or-treat trail, pumpkin animal enrichment, light shows, and more! New this year is a daytime experience on Saturdays. Advance online registration required.

🎃 Streets Alive! — Saturday is the final Streets Alive! event at the current Milwaukee Public Museum! Included with regular admission, museum docents will dress in period attire, share historical stories, and role-play turn-of-the-century Milwaukee figures in the Streets of Old Milwaukee exhibit.

🎃 Autumn Celebration — Celebrate the beauty of fall with a family-friendly afternoon of nature at the free Autumn Celebration at Urban Ecology Center in Washington Park. Guests are invited to explore the changing season through hands-on environmental activities and outdoor adventures on Saturday.

🎃 Community Fall Fest — Purple Door Ice Cream is hosting a free Neighborhood Fall Fest on Saturday afternoon! Expect face painting, kids' activities, music, pumpkin decorating (pumpkins for purchase), and trick-or-treating for kids.

🎃 Haunted Halloween on Downer — Saturday, families are invited to stroll Downer Avenue for some early trick-or-treating! Check out pumpkins carved by local merchants, vote for your favorite, and enjoy some treats along the way. Kids, their parents, and their leashed pups are invited to dress up for the occasion.

Have kids ages 0–6? There’s a whole week of volunteer opportunities designed just for them!

Kids Impact Community is hosting Young Changemakers’ Week October 24–30, with family-friendly volunteer projects happening throughout the Milwaukee area.

Kids can help make bunny hay feeders for the Wisconsin Humane Society, pack winter care kits for people in need, make puzzles for patients, share music with seniors, and more.

These are a few of our top picks:

🎃 This is your last chance to enjoy Halloween in the currently Old Streets of Milwaukee at the Milwaukee Public Museum.

🎃 Halloween Village at the Baird Commons is back and still totally free. Visit during the day or night for fun, not scary photo opportunities!

🎃 Scarecrow Lane is up for a few more weeks at Retzer Nature Center. It's completely free to visit, and fun to walk around seeing everyone's creations!

🎃 A&J’s Halloween House is one of Milwaukee’s most impressive private-home Halloween traditions. This Bay View display is for viewing only. Be sure to check it out from the sidewalk or a safely parked car.

🎃 Jack-O-Lantern Nights at Racine Zoo are hosted Thursday-Sunday in the evening and offer a fun, lit display experience!

🎃 Holy Hill Skeletons are now at Sippie Hippie. This year, the Holy Hill Skeletons have moved and are celebrating Bonestock at Sippie Hippie!

Halloween is fast approaching, and there are plenty of new displays, activities, and experiences to enjoy around Milwaukee, including...

🎃 Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee returns October 24, and Halloween Village is back with an expanded display at Baird Community Commons!

🎃 2026 is the final Halloween season at the current Milwaukee Public Museum. Halloween Hauntings returns October 23-24 for one last year in the Wells Street building, and Halloween in the Streets runs September 26-November 1.

🎃 Boo at the Zoo has expanded to daytime Saturdays for the first time! On October 17 & 24, Boo at the Milwaukee County Zoo runs from 9:30 AM to 9 PM, with trick-or-treating available throughout the day.

🎃 Betty BOO’s Spooktacular has a new creatures-of-the-night focus, including real owls, bat programming, a Día de los Mu***os program, Silly Spooky Story Times in the new Northwoods exhibit, and a Mini Monster Mash, all at Betty Brinn Children's Museum.

🎃 The Holy Hill Skeletons have a new home this year! The 2026 theme is "Bonestock," and visitors are encouraged to wear tie-dye when they check out the display in front of Sippie Hippie!

Free symphony concerts are coming to the Bradley Symphony Center this season. 🎶

Festival City Symphony’s Saturday Classics series is completely free to attend, with four concerts scheduled between October and April.

The concerts begin at 2:00 p.m., with an optional free “Unlocking the Score” pre-concert presentation at 1:30 p.m. The series is recommended for kids in grade 2 and up, though younger children are welcome too.

🎻 Jan. 30, 2027: Grace & Grandeur
🎻 Mar. 6, 2027: American Mosaic
🎻 Apr. 17, 2027: Heroic Visions

From pumpkin decorating and train rides to neighborhood trick-or-treating and nearly 1,000 glowing jack-o-lanterns, these are all free and family-friendly:

👻 Davidson Park Pumpkin Party | Oct. 10
Pumpkin decorating, fall train rides, trick-or-treating, crafts, family photos, and a kids DJ dance party.

🕸️ Haunted Halloween on Downer Avenue | Oct. 17, 1–4 p.m.
Trick-or-treat at participating businesses, check out the pumpkin displays, and bring your costumed pup along, too.

🎃 Pumpkin Pavilion in Bay View | Oct. 21–24
Nearly 1,000 carved pumpkins light up Humboldt Park Pavilion, with music, food, games, performances, and more.

🧡 Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee + Halloween Village | Oct. 24, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Free pumpkins while supplies last, decorating, face painting, characters, storytimes, entertainment, and more. Halloween Village is also open at Baird Community Commons from Oct. 1–Nov. 1.

⚡ Hogwarts in Hartland | Oct. 30–Nov. 1, 6–8 p.m.
Walk through a Harry Potter-inspired Halloween display featuring the Forbidden Forest, Hagrid’s hut, Hogwarts Express, and more.
