Never Alone is a collaborative project to increase the s*xual assault advocacy available to victims in Milwaukee county. Once completed, we will have a small army of agency-based and community-based advocates that WILL PROVIDE:
- After hours coverage on the Sexual Assault Hotline that can offer information, support, options and assistance for victims (Need: 20 volunteer advocates)
- Advocates a
vailable for victim support 24/7. They will be able to meet you in the safe place of your choosing, stand at your side during r**e exam or a r**e collection kit. (Need: 20 volunteer advocates)
- Advocates to provide transportation for victims to the Sexual Assault Treatment Center, removing the transportation barriers that prevent victims from reporting and seeking medical care (Need: 10 volunteer advocates)
- Advocates available to sit with victims when reporting to MPD and other police departments, supporting victims during this highly stressful time (Need: 50 volunteer advocates)
Our goal is to raise $100,000 through grassroots events and individual donations, which will pay for 1/3 of the total project goal of $300,000. This money will cover the cost of a Program Coordinator, a Volunteer Coordinator and 3 Victim Advocates. These staff will perform various advocacy roles, including recruiting, training, mentoring, and supervising the estimated 100 volunteer victim advocates required. Never Alone Milwaukee is a partnership between The Healing Center, Sexual Assault Treatment Center (SATC), Pathfinders and Latina Resource Center (all of which are non-profit organizations)
