Good things don't always come in small packages... Our friend Chanel is 104lbs of pure luxury! An absolute joy to be around; everyone who has spent time with her shares that she's a total lap dog despite her size, has a very gentle personality, loves leisurely walks, and will happily enjoy all the belly rubs you can give.
Our friends at 102.9 The HOG had a wonderful time meeting her and featuring Chanel as the of the week this morning.
You can meet this Little-Sebastian-sized lady at our Milwaukee Campus during adoption hours! 🐴 ❤️

🚨🐈 1200 cats are in our care currently, unfortunately a record number for WHS, and our kennel space is at a premium! Some campuses are temporarily housing cats in office spaces to accommodate our on-site population.
The need for families looking to open their homes and hearts to a new pet is urgent.
Adopting or fostering are the most impactful ways to help right now. And there's no better time with our current adoption promotions:
🐾 Name your own adoption fee for all cats 1 year and older + receive a 50% off Animal Antics coupon (good for one item in-store)
🐾 50% off adoption fees for kittens under 1 year old
🐾 Name your own adoption fee for all Benchwarmer dogs
🐾 50% off adoption fees for all other dogs 6 months and older

We know our community always steps up for the animals, and we are so grateful for your partnership 🫶

This past Friday, we partnered with Humane World for Animals to distribute more than 26,000 pounds of pet food and supplies to 200 community members and their pets. We are so grateful to Humane World for this amazing opportunity, which is part of their More Than a Pet campaign, designed to celebrate the bond between people and their companion animals. Providing support to our community is a key aspect of our work, and we were thrilled to get supplies out to the community to help keep families and pets together. 💖

We also owe a huge thank you to COA Youth & Family Centers, our amazing hosts in the heart of our Pets for Life focus community, as well as the many staff members and volunteers who helped out, and the fantastic families who attended. We're always so proud of how our community members show up for their pets! 🫶

One of the most common things we hear is "I can't foster - it'd be too hard to give them back at the end!" Those goodbyes can indeed bring up plenty of emotions, but foster parent Emily's recent note sums up this experience in such a lovely way:
"I loved my first foster!!! He became my squishy little man! It was very rewarding to watch him grow and develop and become a real kitten!! It was a bit of a struggle leading up to letting him go home to his forever family BUT now that it's been a few days, I'm so happy I did it. He has the best family, a great personality I helped develop, and a healthy little body that will hopefully carry him well past adulthood and the raptor stage haha. It was one of the most rewarding things I've ever done. And I can't wait to do it again!"

The impact of fostering goes far beyond the animal being helped. Every goodbye means a new family built, another available kennel in the shelter, and a life changed in an immeasurable way. We couldn't be more grateful for our incredible foster families and hope you'll consider giving it a shot someday, too! 🫶

Update on Kaida! 🎉
Since we first introduced you to Kaida two weeks ago, the love you all have shown her has been nothing short of incredible! We wanted to share some excellent news from her latest check-up: after arriving dangerously underweight, Kaida stepped on the scale and has gained a total of 11lbs! 💖
Thanks to your kindness and the wonderful foster family supporting her on this delicate journey, Kaida is getting all the love and care she could hope for. While she still has several weeks before she'll be ready to bring those increasingly playful antics to a family of her own, we couldn't be more proud of how far she's come!
You made her dramatic transformation possible. Thank you for making a difference for animals and the people who love them. 🫶

Is your couch feeling too empty? We can fix that! Kane would love nothing more than to chill by your side, catch up on all your shows, and nap loudly once the credits start rolling.
He is also the of the week, thanks to our friends at 102.9 The HOG!
Everyone who meets him says he's a very sweet, gentle, cuddly boy who loves going on walks and giving kisses!
Kane is one of our Benchwarmer dogs and a candidate for our tryout program, which allows you to take him home for a week and see if he's a good match for you. If you fall for him, you also get to decide his adoption fee when you make it official! And if things aren’t a fit, he simply comes back to us refreshed after a relaxing vacation from the shelter.
Stop by our Milwaukee Campus during adoption hours to meet him! 💖💖
