The German Immersion Foundation has been working with Milwaukee French Immersion Foundation and the Milwaukee School of Languages to ensure that this wonderful school and ALL of its strong academic and enriching opportunities remain available and sustainable as Milwaukee Public Schools navigates changes in the coming years.
The 2026/2027 school year will see district-level change in the form of traditional K4-5th elementary schools potentially adding a sixth grade with the primary intent of reversing or slowing students leaving the district. This shift in location for sixth grade has the potential to impact MSL specifically.
While no changes are expected at either Milwaukee German Immersion School or Milwaukee French Immersion School in the coming school year, MSIS and Fratney (which feed the Spanish Immersion language track) are pursuing additional grades for their programs.
MPS Administration is hosting a stakeholders meeting on Monday May 18th 2026 -- one week from today -- for you to learn more about these changes, potential impacts, timelines, and processes.
Join us from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at Milwaukee School of Languages in the auditorium to participate in making MSL the best school that it can be in the years to come!
