BI+ VOICES WANTED
Gettin' Bi MKE is a 100% volunteer led grassroots, bi+ focused community group dedicated to creating a safe, supportive space for bisexual, pansexual, genderfluid, and q***r people of all gender identities. Our mission is to provide educational resources, advocate for bi+ visibility, and build a stronger sense of community through a variety of projects and initiatives. We are committed to highlighting the diversity of bi+ experiences and amplifying the voices that often go unheard in mainstream LGBTQ+ spaces.
We are currently seeking passionate writers, poets, and editorial contributors for an exciting new project—Bi+ Voices: A Collection of Stories, Essays, and Reflections from our Community. This project aims to highlight the wide-ranging and beautiful experiences of bi+ individuals from all walks of life, focusing on amplifying voices that represent the true diversity of the bi+ community.
Role Overview:
As a contributor to Bi+ Voices: Writers for Community Project, you will have the opportunity to share your unique story, perspectives, and experiences as a bi+ individual. Whether through personal essays, poetry, storytelling, or informative articles, your work will be part of an important ongoing conversation about the bi+ community, its challenges, and its triumphs. We welcome writers from all backgrounds, experiences, and identities.
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute written pieces that reflect your personal bi+ experience or perspective.
Write with honesty, vulnerability, and authenticity. Your contributions will help create a diverse, inclusive, and educational platform.
Collaborate with the editorial team to refine pieces and maintain alignment with the project's goals.
Participate in occasional group discussions or feedback sessions to enhance the collective impact of the project.
Who We're Looking For:
We are actively seeking bi+ writers, poets, and contributors from all intersections of life. We are particularly interested in the perspectives of:
Trans and Non-Binary bisexuals
Black, Hispanic, Asian, Indigenous, and mixed-race bisexuals
Bisexuals from faith communities
Bisexuals who have a disability or are neurodivergent
Bisexuals who came out later in life
Bisexuals who are pregnant and/or parenting
We welcome all voices within the bi+ spectrum, and we’re committed to creating a platform that reflects the full diversity of experiences in our community. Whether your writing focuses on personal identity, relationships, mental health, faith, intersectionality, or any other aspect of bi+ life, we would love to hear from you.
What We Offer:
A supportive community: Connect with other writers and bi+ individuals who share similar passions and experiences.
Skill development: Opportunities to grow your writing and editorial skills in a community-driven project.
Visibility: Your work will be featured on Gettin' Bi MKE’s platforms, contributing to a growing resource for the bi+ community.
Letter of recommendation: Upon completion of your contributions, we will provide a letter of recommendation for your work and commitment.
A platform for advocacy: Your words will help educate, inspire, and advocate for bi+ visibility and inclusion.
Eligibility:
You are open to writing about your personal experience, perspectives, and reflections as it pertains to bi+ life.
No professional writing experience is necessary—passion for the project and a genuine desire to share your voice are what matter most.
How to Apply:
Please submit the following:
A brief personal statement (300-500 words) telling us why you're interested in contributing to this project.
Writing samples: You may submit up to 2 pieces of writing (poetry, essays, stories, etc.) that represent your voice. These can be previously written works or new pieces created specifically for this opportunity.
Deadline: Accepted on an ongoing basis.
We look forward to hearing your story and welcoming your voice into this vital and impactful project! Your words have the power to make a difference in the bi+ community, and we’re honored to offer you the opportunity to contribute to Gettin' Bi MKE’s growing movement of visibility, education, and advocacy.
