Never ever forget the acts of cowardice that re ignited our resolve and united our nation.
Never forget every first responder who put on their uniform, went to work like any other day, then gave their lives that day doing their duty.
Never forget the first responders who spent the next year at ground zero sifting through wreckage trying to locate every victim of the cowardly attack.
Never forget all the first responders who have passed since due to exposure to concrete dust and other toxins from ground zero.
Never forget the passengers and crew of flight 92, who upon hearing what was happening, decided they were not going to allow their airplane to be used as a weapon, even if it meant they did not survive.
Never forget the crew and passengers for flight 77, and everyone who put on their uniform and went to work at the Pentagon, never to return home to their families.
Never forget 9/12/01, when we were actually united as a nation and stood in solidarity with each other.
Never.
Forget.

Officer Michael Michalski
Badge #3014

The Milwaukee Police Department expresses sympathy to the family of Police Officer Michael Michalski, who passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at the age of 52. Officer Michalski lost his life that evening as he was attempting to locate and arrest an armed felon.

Police Officer Michalski was appointed to the Department on February 19, 2001. He was first assigned to District Two, where he remained until 2007. He then joined the Neighborhood Task Force – Street Crimes Unit and later transferred to South Investigations Division – Fugitive Apprehension Unit. His final tour of duty was in the Criminal Investigation Bureau – Special Investigations Division.

Today we remember Milwaukee Police Officer Kendall Corder, Badge # 3509.

On Thursday, June 26, 2025, at about 9:22 PM, Officer Kendall Corder and his partner were dispatched to the area of N.25th Street and W. Garfield Avenue for a subject with a weapon. While approaching the location, they were fired upon in the alley of the 2200 block of North 24th Place. Both officers were struck by gunfire and were not able to return fire. Officer Corder was transported to Froedtert Hospital for treatment, and he later succumbed to his injuries on June 29, 2025.

Officer Kendall Corder was a six-year veteran and assigned to Patrol District 2.

The news is quick to report on the 1 bad apple in the bunch who is charged with Police misconduct.

What they won’t report on is the officer who chooses he cannot take the pressure of the job anymore and takes it into his own hands.

I will argue that no one in a city cares more for the city than its police officers. No mayor, no alderman, no councilman is out there putting their life on the line on a daily basis for the city.

The Police Officers are.

Today every problem facing the world is somehow a Police problem. A Police officer is required to be an expert in everything, state statutes, marriage counseling, parenting, mental health, electric repair, landscaping, automotive repair……the list goes on, and is expected to solve every problem and perform flawlessly in his duties every time.

The pressure of constant perfection can be overwhelming.

Add to that officers are constantly exposed to extreme violence and death. Infant co sleeping deaths. Adults shot and killed. Children shot and killed. Non-fatal Shootings. Stabbings. People intentionally struck with an automobile. You see the worst man has to offer while wearing a police uniform.

No one will ever know what it was that sent these officers over the edge. Was it the stabbing where the victim had stab wounds to his hands because he was trying to shield himself in his last moments, or was it the neighbor who called the police because the neighboring dog pooped in their yard.

The pressures of the job felt so overwhelming that they thought there was only one way out, and that makes me incredibly sad. Sad that they were fighting this battle alone. Sad that they thought there was no way out. Sad that they thought their problem’s weren’t as bad as someone else’s, so why bother them. Sad that they thought there was no one they could reach out to.

To all my fellow officers:

The world is a better place with you in it.

Say it with me:

“The world is a better place with me in it.”

Pick up that phone. Make that call. This fight is not your fight, this fight is our fight and we will be there for each other.

Today we said good bye to Justin Arredondo (9/3/1991 to 6/7/2026).

Justin was our brother. A brother that had his whole life and whole career ahead of him. A brother with a police lineage, who served with pride just as his father had. A brother whose friends and family were proud of who he was and what he was doing. A brother who will be surely missed.

I hope you found your peace.

The Milwaukee Honor Guard Association was humbled to be able to assist the Milwaukee Police Department Honor Guard with their trip to National Police week in Washington DC to honor Police Officer Kendall Corder.

Not only did the MPD Honor Guard assist the Corder and LaForge families, they also assisted with escorting over 50 survivors and their families during the airport escorts, over 25 survivors at the candlelight vigil, stood in the Honor cordon at the National Police Memorial at the Nations Capital,  and stood watch at the National Police Memorial wreath.

The MPD honor guard worked closely with WI Concerns of Police Survivors (WI C.O.P.S.) and other WI honor guards to assure all survivors from WI were met at the gates by a familiar face.

We also presented P.O. Elvis Lock with a plaque. Elvis is retiring after 31 years in law enforcement with most of that also spent on the Honor Guard!

The Milwaukee Honor Guard Assocation was able to offer assistance because of the profits raised from Memorial coin sales, and the only reason the coins did well was because of supporters like you.
