CHI-MIIGWETCH GIINAWAA ISKIGAMIZIGANING IZHAADAA! (Thank you all for coming to Sugar Bush) As we wrapped-up sugar bush prior to the buds of the trees forming and when the sap goes yellow or cloudy… here is the highlights of this season! The ongoing climate adaptations are significantly impacting Anishinaabeg ways of life and our harvest cycles.

We thank our relatives, youth, and community for coming out and helping throughout the process. We are honored to be able to teach indigenous food sovereignty and traditional harvesting gathering here in MinoAki! Chi-miigwetch!

It’s that time of year where Anishinaabeg are saying their prayers and giving their offerings to waawaashkeshi (deer) for their sacrifice. As our youth learn how to hunt, field dress, and butcher the weyau; we remember the teaching of humility. It was because Waawaashkeshi wasn’t humble why us Anishinaabe can hunt them and why they no longer can talk just grunt. We as Anishinaabeg stay humble in our pursuit….
