"Anthony George, a parishioner of Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Wauwatosa, WI, attended Grace Christian Academy in West Allis, WI, a private high school. He's actively pursuing a 5-year Journeyman Apprenticeship program for Plumbing with Local #75 in Verona, WI. As a young adult, Anthony assisted with church activities, participated in community activities, and volunteered services at a senior home, while concurrently improving his GPA. 7-NOV-2020: The AHEPA Milwaukee #43 Trades Program Committee is very proud to announce our first recipient of our Apprenticeship Award. George Schmidt of Germantown, Wisconsin, is a WCTC student targeting a Mechanical Engineering Associate Degree. Congratulations!

"My name is George Schmidt, a parishioner of Annunciation Greek Orthodox church my whole life. I grew up in Germantown Wisconsin and attended Germantown High School, and am currently studying Mechanical Engineering Design Technology at Waukesha County Technical College. Throughout high school I knew I wanted to become a mechanical engineer, so I took PLTW courses that my school offered, to help me further my knowledge in the engineering field. I have received multiple awards in my high school’s band program and have led multiple leadership roles, such as the student leader for my section. I have received two Student of the Month awards, one in music and one in English and have performed in honor’s recital and in five WSMA state festivals, receiving highest ratings and one perfect rating in a group choral piece. I have also been a part of Tri-M honor’s music society for three years in high school and have exceeded the volunteer hours requirement for all three years. In the marching band, I have been awarded multiple awards such as 13 best percussion awards, one including state competition, multiple best visual and best musical performance awards and best color guard. I have also kept above a 3.0 GPA in high school all four years and have been on honor roll since sixth grade. I have been involved with church activities my whole life, including caroling, pie baking, Christmas donations and the church pageant. I have been in the altar for 11 years and served as leader, assistant captain and most recently, captain. I will continue to serve in the altar until my age prevents me from doing so.

My short-term goal for school now is to obtain an Associate Degree in mechanical engineering technology and start working in designing automotive parts. My long-term goal is to obtain a Bachelor Degree or Master’s in mechanical engineering and lead a design team for a high-end car company, such as Tesla, Mercedes, BMW, etc. There is a factory that I want to start out at called JW Speaker after I obtain my Associate Degree. I recently started school and will continue to work smarter and harder to fulfill my goals as a future mechanical engineer."
