Koinonia celebrates Juneteenth! On June 19, 1865, more than 250,000 enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom when Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay and enforced the Emancipation Proclamation. This historic day became known as Juneteenth—a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the continued pursuit of equality.
