Has your child(ren) read over the Holiday Break?!?! I know you're thinking, "Christmas is over, and after this week, winter break will be over too!" Students will be returning to be school in no time! That doesn't mean you can't get in a few quick reads.
A few Reading Tips for the Remainder of the Break!
1. Read for fun! Let children take a break from screen time with a book of their interest! It doesn't have to be a long book either. If you must use screen time, try reading with Epic or Kindle
2. Use travel, to practice reading or learning new words! Whether in the car or airport, have kids help navigate reading street/highway signs or read their boarding pass and gate information. Spell out words that they see when grocery shopping too.
3. Utilize your local library for quick reads and maybe even a free activity or two. This can last into the school year, as a weekly/monthly family activity.
4. Create new traditions that involve Hot Cocoa or food, arts and crafts, or a fun and new bedtime time routine! Traditions usually bring up happy memories...make reading something fun and happy for the family to do will last for years!
