Today marks the 78th anniversary of the Nakba — “the catastrophe.”
In 1948, 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced from their homeland. 78 years later, the catastrophe continues — and right here in Wisconsin, families in our community have lost dozens of loved ones in Gaza. Some have lost more than 30 family members.
This is not distant history. This is our community.
We remember. We organize. We vote.
To every candidate on the ballot: silence is not neutrality. Our community is watching, and we expect you to stand on the right side of history.

Congress held not one, but TWO hearings on the imaginary threat of “Sharia law” taking over America.

Meanwhile housing, healthcare, and working families waited.
Rep. Jayapal said it plainly on the record: no legislation, no courts, no violations. Rep. Scanlon called it what it is, a McCarthyist hate hearing.
Wisconsin’s Muslim community has been here for generations. We pay taxes. We vote. We are your neighbors, not a threat to be investigated.
WMCA stands with every Muslim American tired of being used as a political prop while real issues go unaddressed. We are watching. We are organized. And we will not be silent.

BREAKING: Salah Sarsour’s case was heard in federal immigration court yesterday, April 27.
His legal team appeared in court and formally denied every charge of removability. They also filed a bail motion in federal district court demanding his immediate release — because his detention cannot wait.
Salah is the President of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee. A father of 6. A grandfather of 9. A lawful permanent resident for 32 years with no criminal record in this country. He is being targeted for speaking up for Palestine.
His attorneys are fighting on two fronts. His family is waiting. His community is watching.
Are we showing up?

Make du’a for Salah and his family.

Breaking: Milwaukee Common Council has unanimously passed a resolution calling for the immediate release of Salah Sarsour.

This is what community advocacy looks like—standing up for due process, civil liberties, and the dignity of our neighbors.

With a decisive 12–0 vote (3 not present), Milwaukee’s leadership sent a clear message: justice and fairness must prevail.

Salah Sarsour is a longtime Milwaukee resident, a community leader, and a lawful permanent resident of over 30 years. His case matters—not just for him and his family, but for all of us.

We will continue to advocate, organize, and speak out until justice is served.

Muslim Hill Day was a powerful reminder of what happens when our community shows up.

From a full day of advocacy, meetings with elected officials, and uplifting conversations, to standing together for justice, dignity, and our shared values — every moment mattered. We brought our voices, our stories, and our priorities directly to the spaces where decisions are made.

This is what civic engagement looks like. This is how change begins.

This is not just one case. This is about all of us.

Salah Sarsour, a beloved community leader and lawful permanent resident of over 30 years remains detained, while his legal team expands constitutional claims against the government.

This amended filing raises serious concerns about:
Free speech
Due process
The use of immigration systems to target voices

Our communities cannot stay silent in moments like this.
We must stay informed, speak out, and stand together.

Hearing: April 27
Follow updates. Share widely. Show up.
