📣 Scholarship Deadline Extended! 📣

The Santa Rosa County Navy League is proud to support the next generation of leaders through our annual scholarship program, and we’re giving students a little more time to apply!

🗓 NEW Deadline: April 15, 2026
💰 Scholarship Award: $1,500

This scholarship is open to eligible students with strong academic performance, leadership involvement, and a passion for continuing their education. Applicants must also include a school official’s endorsement as part of their submission.

📌 Be sure your application includes:
✔️ Transcripts
✔️ Extracurricular activities & leadership roles
✔️ One-page essay
✔️ Statement of need
✔️ School endorsement

Eligible criteria - Applicants must meet one of these listed items:
- Must live in Santa Rosa County
- Must be a graduate of a Santa Rosa County School district, including home and/ or private school, with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA with transcript confirmation
- Child or Grandchild of a Maritime Service active duty, retired, or honorably discharged member
- A NJROTC graduate with at least two years in the program, with HS transcript confirmation
- Completed at least two years in the Naval Sea Cadet Program with the Division Commanding Officer’s statement confirmation
- Demonstrated participation in school and extracurricular activities
- Demonstrated leadership positions held in school activities or organizations
- Demonstrated need (statement supporting need for scholarship aid)

Navy League Santa Rosa County Honors NAS Whiting Field and Training Air Wing FIVE at Annual Awards Banquet

Milton, FL — March 6, 2026 — The Santa Rosa County Council of the Navy League of the United States hosted its Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet on March 6 at Sowell Farms, recognizing the outstanding service members and civilians of Naval Air Station Whiting Field and Training Air Wing Five.

The annual event brought together community leaders, military personnel, and supporters of the sea services to celebrate the achievements of those serving and supporting operations at NAS Whiting Field. The evening included dinner, awards presentations, and the installation of the council’s 2026 officers and board members.

“Santa Rosa County is stronger because you choose to live and serve here, and it’s our responsibility as a community to show the men and women of NAS Whiting Field how much we value their service.” said 2026 Council President, Stephen Prestesater. “The mission of the Navy League only works when people step forward to support it. If you believe in supporting our Sea Cadets, investing in NJROTC, and strengthening the bond between our community and NAS Whiting Field, we invite you to join us.”

The evening’s program featured remarks from guest speaker Chief Jennifer Frank, Chief of Police for the City of Milton, who shared insights from her nearly two decades of law enforcement leadership and her commitment to community-driven policing.

During the banquet, the Navy League presented several awards recognizing exceptional performance among enlisted sailors, civilian personnel, and flight instructors at NAS Whiting Field and Training Air Wing Five.

The event also included presentation of the Theodore Roosevelt Youth Medal to LC2 Baylee Bray-Crews in recognition of exceptional youth leadership and service with the US Naval Sea Cadets Whiting Division.

During the evening, the council also recognized and installed its 2026 Board of Directors, who will lead the organization’s efforts to support the sea services and strengthen community partnerships in Santa Rosa County.
