Congratulations to the newest rotary winged aviators who were pinned Aug. 14 during the Training Air Wing FIVE Winging Ceremony.

* CAPT Zachary Glass, USCG, USCG Liaison to Naval Flight Training (NAS Pensacola; NAS Whiting Field; NAS Corpus Christi), was the guest speaker for the event.
*Over 37,800 Naval designation numbers have been assigned since Whiting has produced rotary winged warfighters.
*These warfighters will now be assigned to their Fleet Replacement Squadrons to learn their fleet aircraft.

On July 25, Santa Rosa County Navy League Council Board Member Del W Lewis, Chair of Youth Programs and Scholarships graciously opened her home to host the annual party for Sea Cadets Whiting Division creating an unforgettable day of fun, teamwork, and leadership for the cadets. ⚓🇺🇸

The day was packed with exciting activities including Jenga, co****le, a build-a-boat challenge, search and rescue, torpedo run, battleship splash, ship-to-shore relay, captain’s orders, submarine challenge, abandon ship, a water balloon Navy battle, and concluded with prizes and awards.

Special recognition to our Board Members:
⭐️ Julie Fortenberry Ziegenhorn for helping plan the games, prizes, gifts, and certificates, and sharing her experiences serving in the U.S. Air Force and as PAO for NAS Whiting Field.
⭐️ Dan Stewart for speaking with the cadets about leadership, law, military service, and preparing for their futures.

Sincere gratitude to Jeremy Lewis for grilling lunch for everyone, our local Navy Recruiter for taking time to encourage the cadets and discuss opportunities in service and leadership and Commanding Officer Darrell Zofcin for leading the games and keeping everyone engaged throughout the day.

We are incredibly proud of our Sea Cadets and grateful to the volunteers and supporters who invest their time to help shape tomorrow’s leaders.

We are honored to announce that our unit has been recognized as the 2nd Most Outstanding NJROTC Unit in the Nation for the 2025–2026 school year.

This achievement is the result of countless hours of hard work, teamwork, and dedication from every cadet, instructor, and supporter. Every early morning, every challenge, and every opportunity to serve helped shape who we are as a unit.

Thank you to our families, school, alumni, and community for believing in us every step of the way. This honor is more than a title—it reflects our commitment to excellence and the people who made it possible.
