Chris Coup of the Milton Rotary Club stopped by the Borough of Milton offices recently to present Borough Manager, Curt Zettlemoyer and Director of Public Works, Sam Shaffer with American Flags to be displayed on the Governor Po***ck Bridge in time for Memorial Day. The Milton Rotary Club has been donating the new American Flags to the Borough each spring for more than 25 years.
As a fundraiser, the Milton Rotary Club has started making these same flags available to members of the public for a donation of $25 per flag. The 3'X5' nylon flags are high quality and very durable, feature embroidered stars and are made in the USA! Flags can be purchased from any Milton Rotarian or by stopping by The Coup Agency Real Estate & Insurance in Milton.

Patrick Mack is the experienced public sector leader with over 15 years of service in community and economic development. He currently serves as Executive Director at the Housing Authority of Northumberland County, where he oversees strategic planning, budgeting, and operations and was our speaker at Monday's meeting.

Patrick previously led planning and industrial development efforts for Northumberland County and serves as the Board Chairman with the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area Authority. In addition, he serves as board member of the Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau and is known for his collaborative leadership in government and community initiatives across central Pennsylvania.

He said the County is one of the largest landlords in the County. The first one is Yoder Brothers in Turbotville that oversee a much larger number of rental units than the 300 to 400 that the County has. The County housing is run by two different Boards, one that is the non-profit entity and one that is the governmental one. Their Boards are independent of the County, but the County commissioners appoint the board members. They are housed in the Milton Towers and employ 15 full-time employees. There are two properties in Milton and some elsewhere in the lower part of the County.

He said the organization is currently working on blight with much of the emphasis centered on the lower part of the County where blight is a very large problem. They recently acquired and demolished a property in McEwensville that was blighted and are in the planning stages of utilization of it.
