Mandorla Music's founder and director is Mark Redmond, a life-long musical omnivore who works as a mental health counselor by day.

TOMORROW! We'll close the day with 2025 Boston Music Awards winning saxophonist Jared Sims and his new band Aftershock taking the stage at 6pm. With the funky twin guitars of Jeffrey Lockhart and Steve Fell and the ace rhythm team of Jef Charland on bass and Mark Walker on drums, expect mind-boggling musical interplay and deep grooves. Another preview of Saturday's music: Eric Hofbauer's EHX will take the stage at 5. The guitarist has been active on the Boston jazz scene as a musician, bandleader, organizer and educator since the 1990s. His recent double album ‘Tongues/Hope Language’ explores the sacred power of storytelling, and is the debut of this ensemble. “The repertoire is what I call Gen X post-style — music drawn entirely from artists who have genuinely shaped my life: Bjork, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Joni Mitchell, the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Abbey Lincoln, and Eddie Harris.” He's joined in EHX by Temidayo Balogun on saxophone, Ana Ospina on cello, Tony Leva on bass, Miki Matsuki on drums and Hayley Thompson-King on vocals. On stage at 4pm at Saturday's festival is the Witness Matlou Quartet. Witness is a South African jazz pianist and composer who currently serves as a professor of Piano, Harmony, and Composition at Berklee. His music reflects a rich tapestry of influences, drawing from South African traditional music, folk, gospel, jazz, western classical and global music. He has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center, as well as at leading international festivals such as the Monterey Jazz Festival, DC Jazz Festival, Twin Cities Jazz Festival, the North Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands), and the Panama Jazz Festival. He'll be joined on stage by Lihi Haruvi on saxophone, fellow South African John Lockwood on bass, and Lee Fish on drums. Doors at 2, music 3-7. Bring a blanket or chair and your friends. With her ethereal, crystalline voice and lyrics celebrating the wonder of the natural world, vocalist Åsa Runefelt and her amazing band will open the festival's musical lineup at 3pm. Åsa was born in Stockholm, Sweden, and has been living in the US since graduating from Berklee College of Music, where she earned a BA in Jazz Composition. She'll be joined on stage by Allan Chase on saxophones, Brian Friedland on piano, Bruno Råberg on bass and Austin McMahon on drums. Doors at 2, music 3-7. Bring a blanket or chair and your friends.
