As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re reminded of something Mutual Rescue stories show again and again: healing doesn’t always happen alone. Sometimes, it arrives with four paws, a wagging tail, and a reason to keep going. 🧡🐾
Research shows pets can play a meaningful role in our emotional well-being, and more than 1 in 5 pet owners have received recommendations from doctors to spend time with their pets.
For Michael Uy, that connection was life-changing.
After losing everything, Mike was spiraling into depression. Then one unexpected shelter visit led him to Abbie, a traumatized rescue puppy found on a busy highway. Together, they found healing, purpose, and even the joy of surfing side by side.
💬 “I would never have known my full potential if I hadn’t helped a shelter dog find hers first.” — Michael Uy
As May comes to a close, we’re celebrating the powerful reminder that rescue can go both ways.
