Did you know some Mexican shelters also have Doggy Day Out Programs? Daniel Luna, the translator behind our Spanish language materials for shelters, spent an awesome day enjoying the local parks in Guadalajara with Lluvia, a dog from Refugio Buenos Chicos. If you're in Mexico for the World Cup ⚽️ , check out the local shelters! From the weekend adoption fairs at Parque Mexico in Mexico City, where you can 'gift' a dog a walk around the park to the various shelters across the country, there's plenty of opportunities to get your dog fix! And good luck at the game tonight, Mexico! 🇲🇽

Fostering changes three lives - yours, the pets and the pet's future family. And through the end of July, it can also help local shelters win grants to save even more lives! Shelters across the country are taking part in the Foster 50 Challenge. If you haven't fostered before, this is a great time to start. Whether you can commit a day, a weekend, a week or more to open your life to a homeless pet, somewhere in your community a shelter needs you! Find a participating shelter near you at https://www.pedigreefoundation.org/foster50challenge/

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re reminded of something Mutual Rescue stories show again and again: healing doesn’t always happen alone. Sometimes, it arrives with four paws, a wagging tail, and a reason to keep going. 🧡🐾

Research shows pets can play a meaningful role in our emotional well-being, and more than 1 in 5 pet owners have received recommendations from doctors to spend time with their pets.

For Michael Uy, that connection was life-changing.

After losing everything, Mike was spiraling into depression. Then one unexpected shelter visit led him to Abbie, a traumatized rescue puppy found on a busy highway. Together, they found healing, purpose, and even the joy of surfing side by side.

💬 “I would never have known my full potential if I hadn’t helped a shelter dog find hers first.” — Michael Uy

As May comes to a close, we’re celebrating the powerful reminder that rescue can go both ways.
