Pitru Paksha: Honor Ancestors & Relieve Pitru Rina Through Go Seva
During Pitru Pakshaβthe sacred fortnight dedicated to honoring our ancestorsβthe Vedas remind us of Pitru Rina, the inherent debt we carry to those who came before us.
Pitru Paksha is a sacred time to remember and honor our ancestors through acts of charity, seva, and devotion.
Srila Prabhupada taught that the true essence of Shraddha is to first offer food as Krishna Prasadam, which then reaches and satisfies our forefathers. As stated in the Garuda Purana, serving and feeding Gomata (cows) helps free one from Pitru Dosha and carries spiritual offerings to deliver peace to our ancestors.
