Sonia Arteaga spent her twenties working to help her mom pay the bills. At 30, she went back to school — motherhood, midterms, and all.

When a friend mentioned Dress for Success San Jose, Sonia decided to find out more. What she found — career coaching, Google Career Certificates, and a year of LinkedIn Premium through Project Premium — gave her the confidence and network she had been building toward.

Two weeks after graduating from San Jose State University, she launched her own marketing business.

A month later, she signed her first client: a $50 million company. 🎉

“This is not a coincidence,” Sonia says. “These are the resources that were available to me, and I was able to leverage to build confidence for my own path.”

This October, Sonia receives the inaugural Spark Award at our signature Women Who Inspire event and she will tell her story in person.

Those resources existed because people like you chose to support this work.

Join us October 22 at the San Jose Woman’s Club and see what that choice makes possible.

A full-circle moment: Coco Wenfei Wang first encountered Dress for Success nearly a decade ago at Penn — and now she’s joining our Board of Directors. ❤️

Coco is an investor, entrepreneur, and current MBA candidate at Stanford Graduate School of Business. Her career took her from Moelis & Company, advising on transactions across technology, media, communications, consumer retail, and renewable energy, to TPG, one of the world’s largest alternative asset managers — as a tech investor.

While at TPG she served on the Women’s Steering Board, where she led its Women’s Internship Program.

Alongside her investing career, Coco is also the founder of Version Up, a modern workwear brand with B2B partnerships across investment banks, law firms, and university women’s organizations.

Welcome, Coco!

Every woman who walks through our doors is supported by a community she may never fully see.

As Anita Battle, Lisa Bugni, and Darlene Fong conclude their service on the Dress for Success San Francisco/San Jose Board of Directors, we want to take a moment to say thank you.

Over the years, they have shown up in countless ways — leading with purpose, opening doors, and never losing sight of the women at the center of this work.

Their contributions have touched thousands of lives across the Bay Area, even if those women never knew their names.

We are deeply grateful for their service, their generosity, and their belief in this mission. They will always be part of the Dress for Success family.

Thank you, Anita, Lisa, and Darlene. ❤️

Meet Tati! 🌟

We are so excited to welcome Tatiana Castaneda — who goes by Tati — as our new Program Associate at Dress for Success San Jose.

Tati will be supporting clients across our Career Wardrobe program, Career Center, financial education workshops, job search programs, and more.

Tati brings a genuine passion for community-based work to this role. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Studies with a Minor in Prison Reentry Studies from San Francisco State University, and has built meaningful relationships with community organizations and commissions throughout her career.

“I enjoy helping people, especially those who are often overlooked by society, and being a resource to those in need,” Tati shared.

When she is not in the office, you might find her out on the water — crabbing or jet skiing.

Please join us in giving her a warm welcome. We are so glad she is here.
