The word "catechist" comes from a Greek root meaning to echo. Today, on Catechetical Sunday, we bless the women and men across our diocese who echo the Word of God, so that all of us can carry His good news into the world.

But the call to keep learning the faith doesn't end with childhood. Whatever our age, there's always more to receive, more to understand, more to love. This fall, parishes across the Diocese of San José are opening new ways to grow, for adults, young adults, and teens alike, from Scripture study to faith formation of every kind.

Today, Aug. 11, the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast Day of St. Clare of Assisi, one of the most beloved saints of the Middle Ages and the co-patron of our diocese.

A close friend and spiritual companion of St. Francis of Assisi and the founder of the Poor Clares, St. Clare lived a life marked by radical trust in God, deep devotion to the Eucharist and steadfast faith.

More than 800 years after her death, her witness continues to inspire Catholics around the world.

🏆 CMA Award Winner

Some works of art hang in galleries. One of the most important, Bishop Cantú notes, was never made by human hands at all.
