Vision Literacy is a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization created to raise awareness & funds to provide necessary services to adults with low literacy skills in Bay Area California. It is a seldom-discussed issue that has an effect on national crime, poverty, and unemployment, costing the national economy millions. In addition, the lack of literacy skills with a family can have a perpetual effect on t
he future of their children, and their children thereafter. It is time to break the silence, break the cycle and break the ceiling for millions of adults living and working in the United States without basic literacy skills. For more than 25 years, Vision Literacy has partnered with donors, volunteers, and organizations to raise awareness and funds to provide necessary services to adults with low literacy skills. Vision Literacy is a premium provider of comprehensive adult and family literacy education services in the Bay Area. Through the backing of your kind donations, Vision Literacy continues to deliver it’s nationally recognized and accredited program that empowers adult learners to reach their personal goals, build confidence and develop a successful vision for their future. Your support will fund expansions to our programming. For example, at Graham Middle School in Mountain View, CA, we’ve recently launched a “Together We Learn” program for parents and their children. At the Cupertino Senior Center we’re now offering instruction for adults to strengthen their conversational English skills, particularly for those whoa re not native English speakers. Furthermore, at our new center close to downtown Gilroy we’re providing a one-stop place for regional intake, assessment and instruction in partnership with Gavilan College and adult schools. Your support is helping our learners to tackle life expectations with confidence. From helping our learners to fill out job applications to being able to improve the English speaking ability to request work shifts that better align with family responsibilities. From helping to read and comprehend nutrition information to helping to navigate through the myriad forms that are foisted on patients in this era of managed health care. From engendering a love of reading in their children, a critical first step in developing goals for college and careers to lifting the confidence of our learners, Vision Literacy is seeking to close the book on illiteracy in the Bay Area. Your support will expand our capacity to assist others in our community who are eager to improve their ability to read, comprehend and speak confidently in social and work situations. Your support will touch lives that will be forever changed
because you invested in them. Please give generously to Vision Literacy. SHARE THIS STORY, IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE.
