GPS is an undeniable great resource until this happens. A growing problem which all governments at every level should be able to help with. Enforcement is key.
There is something you can do. Take a photo of the truck and call the company to advise them of when and where you saw their truck and it was illegal for them to be on that road or street.

October 29 at 6:30 PM you and your neighbors are invited to Shiloh Church in Millwood for a Millwood community meeting. Maral Kalbian, expert in the field of historical preservation, is going to talk to the group about applying for National Register of Historic designation. The short answer here is the designation for the village of Millwood will mean that our tiny village will be officially recognized by the US government for its significance to American History. It is purely honorific.

The closeness of Millwood to several extraordinary walking locations is a big plus for all of us. Blandy presents multiple walking paths rich with varied plant life. Today was pods and seeds day for me. It's almost time for the Ginkgo frenzy. Put on your walking shoes and visit this beautiful place. 🍂

An additional feature has been implemented at the entrances to Bishop Meade Road. Hoping for a favorable response to these new signs prohibiting trucks over 40 feet. See a truck-report a truck with the name of the company to the Clarke County Sheriff's Department,955-5153.

Yesterday was one of the Millwood Community Association's day to pick up litter along our roads, all within the 25 MPH zone. To tell the truth it is a pretty scary job because most drivers do not slow down even when they see volunteers in bright orange vests carrying orange trash bags. Thank you to the brave volunteers who accepted the challenge of cleaning up our roads.

VDOT upgraded the shoulder along Bishop Meade Road on the hill. Much safer for walking and better for parking too! Every little bit helps. Thanks VDOT.

September 16 is VOTER REGISTRATION DAY-TAKE A NON-VOTER TO REGISTER to Vote at the Clarke County Office of Elections, 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday.
Last day to register is October 24. Clarke County Office of Elections is located at 101 Chalmers Court, Berryville-Government Center

Voter Registration Applications are available on line at www.elections.virginia.gov/registraion

September 19,is the first day for early in person voting and will last until November 1, 2025.

September 19-Friday-10:30 AM-Please meet at Christ Church Millwood at 10:30 AM-bring your gloves-trash bags and vests provided.

October 19-TIME TO READ YOUR FAVORITE POEM/S AT THE POETRY IN to be held at Christ Episcopal Church at 4 PM led by Millwood Poet Laureate Wendell Hawken. Refreshments will be served and you will have a great time listening and sharing your favorite poetry.

I am happy to report to the MCA audience that VDOT is now painting chevrons on the speed tables, thereby enhancing their visibility. We sure hope this helps drivers slow down so that things like the metal cylinder do not flip off of trucks.
