Over the past six decades CMP has continued to present an impressive array of artists via its MainStage series at Point Park University's Pittsburgh Playhouse, its eclectic Just Summer series held outdoors at The Highline Pittsburgh in the South Side, and its newest Pittsburgh Performs series that features local Pittsburgh artists in unusual venues outside of the traditional concert hall setting,

with a focus on underserved neighborhoods. CMP upholds the highest standards of quality programming through the careful selection of highly skilled musicians, and CMP strives to present a diverse group of artists from a variety of backgrounds. In carrying out its mandate, CMP has been guided consistently by two basic principles: quality and variety. Each year's programming is a carefully balanced menu of acclaimed chamber ensembles along with the most brilliant emerging groups. The programs have also reflected a balance of traditional musical masterpieces as well as contemporary, intercultural, and crossover compositions. Consonant with its mission to present extraordinary chamber music, CMP is committed to cultivating an appreciation for the art in students and adults throughout the Pittsburgh community. To this end, CMP has offered educational programs and experiences including masterclasses and coachings with visiting artists, workshops, lectures, scholarships, practice challenges, ticket giveaways, and multi-faceted outreach projects including the Beethoven Project and others. Since 2016, CMP has been dedicated to a partnership with Hope Academy of Music and the Arts in East Liberty. CMP now offers nearly 200 stringed instruments to students in their program through a free, need-based musical instrument lending library. The library, owned and maintained by Chamber Music Pittsburgh, allows students and families that could otherwise not afford to buy or rent an instrument, the opportunity to borrow an instrument to play and learn on. These students and families also receive free tickets to all CMP concerts. Chamber Music Pittsburgh is a vital element of the cultural life in Pittsburgh and is recognized throughout the classical music world. It is one of the most respected chamber music organizations in North America.

What does America 250 mean to all of us?

Last week, audiences gathered at East Liberty Presbyterian Church for A Hip Hop 250, an evening full of talent, featuring Guardians of Sound’s Hip Hop Orchestra and Pittsburgh native INEZ. Together, they explored the voices, stories, and art forms that have shaped American music and culture.

Set against the stunning East Liberty Presbyterian Church, the performance brought together hip-hop, orchestral music, and community in a powerful celebration of creativity and connection.

One week from tonight! Meet the artists of Pittsburgh Performs:

Pianist Amaury Morales has captivated audiences across Latin America, the United States, Europe, and Asia with performances celebrated for their energy, artistry, and advocacy of Latin American classical music. A frequent collaborator with ensembles including the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, he is also a dedicated educator and leader in Pittsburgh's musical community.

Joining him is violinist Omari Abdul-Alim, the inaugural Beckom-Freeman Teaching Artist-in-Residence Fellow at UniSound. A versatile performer, composer, and educator, Omari's work spans Hip-Hop, Jazz, Gospel, Soul, Alternative Rock, and more. He has performed with orchestras, theaters, and ensembles across the country, earning recognition for both his artistry and his commitment to inspiring the next generation of musicians.

🎻 Meet Jennifer Orchard, Violin

A member of the PSO since 2001, Jennifer Orchard is a graduate of both the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School. She is a founding member of the Clarion Quartet, an ensemble dedicated to amplifying the voices of overlooked and suppressed composers. Before making Pittsburgh her home, she performed and recorded internationally with the acclaimed Lark Quartet. Outside the concert hall, Jennifer's roots in Canadian fiddle music continue to inspire her diverse musical collaborations.

🎻 Meet Sean Juhl, Viola

Sean Juhl joined the PSO in 2022 and has performed in some of the world's most celebrated venues, including Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, and the Concertgebouw. A graduate of The Juilliard School and winner of Juilliard's 2019 Viola Concerto Competition, Sean is equally passionate about chamber music and orchestral performance.

🎻 Meet Bronwyn Banerdt, Cello

Since joining the PSO in 2014, Bronwyn Banerdt has built an international career as a soloist, chamber musician, and educator. A graduate of USC, Curtis, and Juilliard, she has performed with major orchestras across the country and co-founded both the Clarion Quartet and Pittsburgh Cello Quartet. Today, she also shares her passion for chamber music as an artist lecturer at Carnegie Mellon University."

Meet our Pittsburgh Performs 2026 curators! Guardians of Sound’s Hip Hop Orchestra, founded and directed by Michael Chapman, is a creative performing ensemble made up of youth, emerging artists, and established professional musicians.

Centering acoustic instruments, human voices, conscious lyrics, and current music-making technology, Hip Hop Orchestra creates, performs, teaches, records, and shares original music that bridges genres including hip hop, rock, pop, classical, and jazz.

Through this innovative approach, the ensemble inspires and nurtures the creativity and curiosity of today’s youth while building a more diverse and engaged future for music. By blending traditional instrumentation with modern technology, Hip Hop Orchestra keeps the spirit of acoustic sound alive while embracing the evolution of contemporary music. 🎶

Meet our Pittsburgh Performs 2026 curators! A proud Homewood resident and Pittsburgh native, INEZ is a singer, songwriter, producer, composer, and audio engineer whose work spans genres, disciplines, and communities.

A Cum Laude graduate of Berklee College of Music, INEZ has built an impressive career as a multi-hyphenate artist—earning recognition from NPR, Bandcamp Daily, and Pittsburgh City Paper, while performing everywhere from the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival and Kelly Strayhorn Theater to Chamber Music Pittsburgh’s Just Summer series. Along the way, she’s been named Pittsburgh Music Artist of the Year by WYEP, received the Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Award, and was honored by the Pennsylvania State Senate for her contributions to Black music and art in Pennsylvania.

Beyond the stage and studio, INEZ is a dedicated teaching artist and mentor, passionate about uplifting the next generation of musicians, songwriters, and creatives in Pittsburgh and beyond. ✨ Come hear her in ""A Hip Hop 250"" with Guardians of Sound's Hip Hop Orchestra, June 13 in East Liberty and June 17 at the August Wilson African American Cutural Center!
