💜June is Elder Abuse Month💜
During this month we will be sharing information to help you keep your parents, grandparents & neighbors safe and what you should do if you suspect abuse.
Below you can learn the signs of elder abuse. Abuse isn't always physically noticeable. It also includes emotional, behavioral and financial abuse.
🎯If you suspect elder abuse, immediately call 911 if the situation involves a life-threatening emergency or immediate physical danger.
To report non-emergent elder abuse or neglect in Polk County, Wisconsin, follow these designated steps:
📞1. Polk County Adult Protective Services (APS): ⭐️Contact the Polk County Behavioral Health Department at (715) 485-8400. They investigate reports of physical or sexual abuse, caregiver or self-neglect, and financial exploitation for adults at risk (age 18 and older) who are unable to protect themselves.
📞2. Wisconsin Elder Abuse Hotline: ⭐️You can also reach the statewide toll-free hotline at (833) 586-0107 or file a report using the Report Elder Abuse Wisconsin online tool. Under Wisconsin law, reports can be made anonymously and your identity is protected.
📞3. Nursing Homes or Care Facilities: ⭐️If the abuse is happening in a regulated facility (such as a nursing home or community-based residential facility):Call the Division of Quality Assurance (DQA) at (800) 642-6552 or submit an online complaint via the Wisconsin Department of Health Services website. Contact the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program at (800) 815-0015.
