I'd like to welcome David, Ryan and Larry to the Amen House. Please pray for these men as they journey through this phase of their lives to eventually transition back to being able to become self sufficient in living independently on their own. It really isn't easy sometimes for them to deal with the different personalities, especially during this time of isolation, that are living together day in and day out. But with the Lord's help they will learn to cope with whatever comes from the experience. Please pray for me also as I work through the many different occurrences that develop during their transition. Please pray for me also as I work through the situations that arise with those that are residents in our transitional living home.🙏

I have a gentleman that is being released from Sun Behavioral Health in Georgetown that may be coming to the AMEN House in Oak Orchard. I won't know until a little later this morning. If he is accepted at the AMEN House, he will need a ride from Georgetown to the AMEN House. Otherwise he will be homeless. If there is anyone that would be able to help this gentleman please either message me or call me as soon as possible at 302-381-2647.

It's been quite some time since I posted on the page. I just want to let everyone know that we have 4 beds available at the AMEN House of Oak Orchard. there is an application and intake process that must be completed prior to acceptance at the house. It really breaks my heart to have to tell a resident at the AMEN House, You need to pack your things and leave because you broke one of the rules by drinking and coming back home really drunk. But if you stay clean for thirty days we'll give you another Chance." We have a "zero" tolerance policy at AMEN when it comes to doing things that do not honor Christ and could cause other men to fall away if not addressed and taken care of. Please pray for each man as they come our way and we offer them a Christian sober living house where they can reflect on what a truly clean living life is for them to progress towards total independence one day.

We are totally self supportive by the men living here by paying a modest fee ($100.00 per week that includes food we have) to cover our household expenses. I want to thank Conley's UMC Thrift Shop for supplying the majority of the furniture and miscellaneous items that we were in need of at the Amen House of Oak Orchard transitional home for men.
However, we are still in need of 5 twin bed sets (mattresses, box springs, sheet & pillow case sets)
9- Pillows (standard)
Good pots & pans
This small list will help us to complete the bedrooms for the 9 man capacity at AMEN.

This is Pastor Don Disharoon, Director of the AMEN House, sending out this message, praying for it to be a message of hope and provision. The transitional home for men AMEN House has the need to replace pretty much all of the furniture in the house due to age, many years of use and some damaged. Items can be used if they are in good condition. Or donations can be made to purchase these items at very reasonable costs.
The items I am looking for are as follows:

Bed Rooms
7- twin bed sets (Mattresses, box springs and frames or platform bed and mattresses. Bedding, not including frames, can purchase for $120.00 a set.
Twin sheet sets.
2- full bed sets (Mattresses, box springs and frames or platform bed and mattresses. Bedding, not including frames, can purchase for $130.00 a set.
Full sheet sets
9- chest of drawers or dressers 5 drawers or more (mirrors not really necessary)
9- bedside night stands and small lamps
Living Room
2- 3 seat sofas or sofa, loveseat and chair
2- End tables
2- Table lamps (can repair electrically if needed)
1- Coffee table
1- Book case
1- TV stand
Kitchen
1- table and 6 chairs
2- sets of racks or tall shelf cabinets for food supplies and dishes.

It's a tall list but with the help of others it can be supplied. AMEN is a 501 c(3) and letters of donations are available for any and all donations upon request. Have a blessed day!

I had a man named Andrew that contacted me about becoming a resident at the AMEN House. He lost all he owned including his family that we will be working towards that relationship being restored once he realizes and accepts his responsibilities. He was just employed this week but doesn't get his first paycheck for two weeks. He is seeking help in being able to afford his first week's fee of $100.00 that also includes the food he eats at AMEN. After the first week we will allow him to play catch up if needed. If anyone is led to help Andrew please contact me via messaging on Facebook or give me a call at 302-381-2647. I will inform everyone as Andrew progresses.

I KNOW A YOUNG LADY THAT IS A SINGLE MOM RAISING 2 CHILDREN ON HER OWN AND IS GAINFULLY EMPLOYED. THEY HAVE BEEN LIVING WITH HER PARENTS FOR SEVERAL MONTHS TO TRY AND GET BACK ON HER FEET. THAT TIME HAS ARRIVED BUT SHE IS IN NEED OF A FEW THINGS TO EASE THE FINANCIAL BURDEN OF STARTING IN HER OWN PLACE. THE NEED IS:
2- TWIN BEDS WITH FRAME, MATTRESS AND BOX SPRINGS
1- FULL OR QUEEN BED WITH THE SAME
HEADBOARDS AND FOOTBOARDS NOT NECESSARY.
2- DRESSERS OR CHEST OF DRAWERS.
ITEMS IN DECENT SHAPE (NOT BROKEN OR HAS TO BE REPAIRED) WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

The AMEN House of Oak Orchard is going to work towards a healthier lifestyle as we approach the Christmas season. If there is anyone that may have exercise weights in good condition ( barbells w/weights, dumbbells, weight lifting bench, leather waist belt, etc) that they no longer use and would be willing to donate for the men at AMEN, or sell at a reasonable price, please contact me via PM message, phone 302-381-2647 or email me at [email protected].
